The one person I know who is a hardcore fan of K-On is a highschool girl.

    Am I a highschool girl now? :D

    Apparently they are all straight.

Technically it doesn't really say one way or another... except I guess there's like one manga chapter where Mio and Ritsu talk about what would happen if one of them got a boyfriend.

K-On! does have a plot. The girls are aiming to get good grades, find a nice boyfriend and graduate from their school.

Well, actually the plot's more the girls trying to become a better band.  But of course this is usually ignored in favor of cute or funny things.

    > Yet most animation fans for some reason see the 1990s as when animation started to rise.

    Because nostalgia.

    > > Who's the antagonist?
    > The target audience.

    LOL
  • You can change. You can.
IJBM: That being plotless somehow became synonymous with "bad" along the way.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
Well, he knows me, and I like K-On! And I'm even still in high school. :D

Sadly, I know no one in meatspace who likes this show. Except maybe one of the guys in my D&D group.

That seems more like first season, though. K-On!! has a lot of focus on them growing up and dealing with senior issues.

Right.  I haven't watched the second season since it was airing (and I watched the first season like three times since then), so I kinda forgot...

I didn't mean you. In fact I wasn't even talking about a Troper.
  • Yeah, I figured.

Incidentally, the only person I know IRL that likes K-ON! is also a girl.  Though not a highschool girl.
  • What? Is she in college? IRL loli?
  • Oh. Hm.

A lot of girls like Moe shows, even though they're aimed at men.

But hey, that just means more potential cosplayers.

I always assumed the "aimed at men" thing was an internet myth, and in particular a TV Tropes myth.

It would make more sense if a show about high school girls was meant to target high-school girls. You know, the same way you know James Bond is aimed largely at men because he's a suave dude who beds eight women a day, and if women find that appealing then its a lucky coincidence.
