You. What I'm saying is, you aren't being serious with this argument, right?
  • Here's the problem with that Vorpy and this is one of my favorite subjects. if someone who was in a position where he couldn't do something because  he was powerless and opressed by his government and the government was doing something he didn't like is he wrong for complaining about it?
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
    No, I am not.

Because I doubt anyone here dedicatedly added anything to the JBM pages other than me that didn't compose of ghost complaining.
  • edited 2011-04-20 19:30:21
I wonder if future tropers will even know that either form of IJBM ever existed. /navelgazing
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Probably, everyone keeps talking about it in the forums.
  • ^^^ Surely that's a reason to be more serious about this?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
^^^ The fact that I could be looked upon as an elder of TvTropes scares me to no end.

I don't necessarily dislike complaining, but it's an integral part of works that are objectively bad (I'm looking at you, Rah and the Muggles).
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    • "Am I the only one who doesn't find this to be a problem? It's only a rename and a measure to delete the dumb "why does anyone even like this!?" "And this is why this series is not as good as it should be." bullshit."
    • Essentially this. I see no problem with renaming the namespace.
If it will get people to stop bloody bitching on the pages, I'm all for it.
  • Because you never know what you might see.
^ Ditto, probably surprising nobody at this point.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
It works, but it's stupid and annoying for the tropers (like moi) who actually try to abide by the rules and don't bitch much on non-bitchy pages.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
"and don't bitch much on non-bitchy pages. "

We don't want any bitchy pages.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Except for Darth Wiki. Which is why I don't bitch.
  • No, Darth Wiki isn't there because Fast Eddie wants it.  It's there because if it wasn't, people would be bitching even more on the main pages.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
I know he doesn't want it. (And besides, it derives little entertainment value.)

The problem is that the few tropers who decide to bitch on the main pages have made it a necessity.
  • I like turtles.
"We don't want any bitchy pages."

I'm sorry, but I just don't see this being true for the vast majority of users out there.  Everyone likes to rant sometimes.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    That's what here is for.
  • ^^ And you can do that in places other than the wiki.  Like, on other websites.  The wiki is, in theory, supposed to actually provide some information.  RAEG at how you hate a show because it's popular, or whatever, is not even remotely constructive.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Somebody bring up the old SoBadItsHorrible/ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontLike page.

I believe I commented on the thread about that page that I found it funny.  I guess I don't understand why it's a big deal that it was there.

Stop complaining about the complaining you guys sheesh
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
If you want to snark about stupid people complaining about stupid shit, there are plenty of other places to do it. (subjective) Why should TV Tropes host it all and enable these shitty habits on the wiki? (subjective)
  • I like turtles.
Why shouldn't they?  No one is forcing anyone to read anything.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
No one is forcing anyone to read anything.

No one is forcing you to write in a manner that detracts from the rest of the wiki.

    Cue-bey
Wouldn't detracting from the wiki imply that there is quality writing on there? The times I saw actual original thought on tvtropes were few and far between, with it being drowned in seas of "X did something sort of similar to trope Y! I'll note this, despite having no idea what the significance of that is!"

The pages with pretensions of intelligence have the laziest approach to literary analysis I've ever seen, and the time taken to read pages that are pointless lists of events with uninteresting comments appended to them could be better spent actually consuming media, or, even, doing something productive.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
But that's the Internet. At least we try.

There's also the Troper's love of X TREME EXXAGERATION FOR EMOTIONAL AFFECT, If you don't cry reading this comment you have no soul, pointlessly using egregious when there are better words just for the sake of potholing to the drinking game, the continued existence of TT, and I'm sure I'll think of other things I dislike about tvtropes.

EDIT: Oh yes, Nightmare fuel pages of both varieties.

"X did something sort of similar to trope Y! I'll note this, despite having no idea what the significance of that is!"

Or, even better, "X isn't an example of this trope, but [literal interpretation of trope name] happens."

Which admittedly I haven't seen too much, but I've definitely seen that a little bit.

^x5Whether it detracts from anything is debatable.

Again, no one is forcing people to read it.  But what current site policy is doing is forcing people to not write it.

    Totally the same thing, right?
