Moooooooooooooooom, Haven's stealing from apple and he's being lame and he won't stop punning.
And no one has ever been able to stop me doing the last two, so obviously I'm safe if I do the first one.
The flawless logicometer is off the charts, here.
Daaaaaaaaaaaad, Haven's using logic. He knows it fizzles my brain, but he still does it ;~;
Finished The Silence of the Lambs, finally. @Forzare, if you still want my opinion on it (though I can't compare it to the movie): it was quite different from what I was expecting. A lot of it was that I was expecting Dr. Lecter to be much scarier (or at least, I expected the book to do much more to indicate how scary he can be), and on a related note, I expected the book as a whole to be much darker, but it actually kind of felt like a standardized murder mystery novel. Maybe it's because it was an influence on future fictional murder mysteries or something, I dunno. A certain plot point caught me by surprise, though, I have to grant, and it was an interesting touch. Though I guess I'm annoyed at how Thomas Harris kind of tooted his own horn with how depraved and brilliant Dr. Lecter is.
So, I liked it and I'm surprised that the movie is so much more well-known than the book (as far as I can tell, at least), and that I haven't heard more about Harris (though maybe he's not the best technical writer).
On to Best Served Cold. Only finished the prologue and a few pages of the first part, and it might already be the most vulgar thing I've ever read, in much the same way that Blood Meridian quickly established itself as the most violent thing I've read (that I could take seriously, at least; American Psycho is still a joke).
Working on building my Serpent's Tongue deck. Looks like I'll be using time manipulation for my main strategy, but that's just me. As a more general overview of strategy for people who aren't familiar with the game, here's what I have to say about it: getting a shield spell up at the start of the game is the most important thing in the game. If you don't do that, your opponent can and will just kill you. You can cast some spells defensively, but you have to spend willpower for most of them, and you get three willpower for the entire game, so it's generally best to just get your damn shields up.
I like in Katawa Shoujo when they give you the 'comfort Misha' option they conveniently leave out 'with your dick'.
Then again I probably should have read between the lines.
^^Well, America Psycho isn't supposed to be taken seriously.
It's been awhile, but isn't she specifically asking you to do that at that point?
Well admittedly I almost missed that there was a choice there so I wasn't paying 100% attention so it's possible and I just skipped to the choice the next time.
She is implying it all the way through before the option comes through, I knew what was going to happen the moment the option was presented so I took the confort misha option, 100% that I am.
also holy shit I still haven't read katawa shoujo what am I thinking
"Well, America Psycho isn't supposed to be taken seriously"
That doesn't preclude it from being a crappy book.
Dammit, I knew there was something else I still had to do.
Do people even remember that game?
Speaking of visual novels, I started playing Little Busters! a while ago. It's good so far, but I'm only pretty early in so I haven't gotten to the actual drama part.
i told everyone this would happen
did people believe me?
noooooo
was i right?
fuck yes when am i not
You are not completely right, I still play it from time to time.
you're not people, though
I still read it occasionally, though that's because I haven't actually finished all the routes yet.
There are people who aren't familiar with asexuality. Ok, fine. That's something society still needs to work on, I get it. It's preferable to be around the kind of people who just nod and understand exactly what it means for a straight guy to not be dating his closest female friend because she's asexual aromantic. But in the absence of such people...
Well, it's plenty awkward when not only have the two "perfectly normal" (imagine sarcasm there) girls you're trying to briefly explain to never heard of asexuality, but when for some damn reason the first thing that pops into one of their minds was something they saw on object sexuality on Tyra. Really? Because asexuality and being attracted to certain inanimate objects/structures have so much in common, obviously. Yeah, I'd prefer a blank stare, really.
(Anger level: Mildly perturbed. This is not an Evergreen angry post. Just sayin') (Also, in case you were wondering, these people are my co-workers, and pretty clearly the exact sort of person I'd never be friends with under most circumstances...)
You don't need to be aromantic/asexual to not automatically want to date/bone close friends. Problem is, you can never really spell this out without digging into the reasons why you two don't mesh well, and that might be insulting if relegated back to said bro or brodette.
Also, Facebook is a cacaphony of bitching on the Germs. The Dutch do not know how to lose gracefully, and I love it.
Only reference I've seen to that game was a friend (American) studying abroad in Germany right now making a Wombo Combo joke, saying the Dutch got upsmashed. I was mildly amused. I'm not following the whole thing, no more than I follow any sports, really...
It's, as with all things, an excuse for booze. Luckily we have an appointment with the riot police bros tomorrow so we can vent some of the frustration we aren't really feeling. The good thing is that it's their training exam, so it's all perfectly legal, and I can bum a ride with someone so no transport costs for me.
So is there any place I can get the skinny on what exactly this Arkh project controversy is? So far all I can get is that there's some drama going on and it's basically a JRPG with POC and trans* people.
Haven't heard of it.
It's a might be a bit out of date, but here is what I feel is a decent overview of it. http://www.journalfen.net/community/unfunny_fandom/18490.html
I've been hearing rumblings about it and whether it's racist or depends on stereotypes plus the usual whitey trying to keep it down stuff but nothing in any actual detail.
This is their tumblr
This is the opposition
I seem to have more of an urge to turn conversations to "let me tell you about Mass Effect" than "let me tell you about Homestuck" lately.
That doesn't seem right, somehow.
Hm. While I think trying to bring more minorities into gaming is a good idea, I think "let's make a game where everyone's a minority" should not be the core concept for a game.
And looking through stuff about the devteam...they don't really seem especially qualified, and they have a fiftieth of their estimated budget.
Can't say I have high hopes for it.
nope, that's plenty right
^I also feel that having a character be a minority for the sake of having them be a minority is kinda demeaning to what being from a different race, sexual orientation or gender means to people and the discrimination again them.
