Aw, man, same time stamps and everything.
IJAM: Making Guacamole, in a mortar and pestle, with some ingredients I grew and picked myself.
I love the internet.
(also relevant)
@Juan:
I still exist you know.I'm thinking about asking for a namechange to "Weedlord Bonerhitler" but it's probably been too soon since the last one.
no you don't. i checked and everything
K, thanks for the correction.
Admittedly, I haven't played Magic in a while myself.
Hey, guys, I've been trying to get a game for like ever, don't forget me.
I mean, I only have one new deck to test, but still.
Sure why not. I have a hankering for turning cards sideways anyways.
Are you using port 4747?
buh sorry, connection failed for a bit.
or not.
So I've been throwing punches at the air and pretending to be a boxer and stuff, and I realize that this might be a decent workout. Now I have this dilemma of whether or not I stay up for another forty minutes doing this or not.
I also think I should feel sort of silly for even stumbling upon this idea, since it's mostly from hearing about Pacquiao's being robbed of a win a couple days ago and then watching a bunch of his fights.
EDIT: And man, I actually wrote a paragraph for fun. Not entirely sure if it's an achievement for me, or pretentious shit, but it's there, man. And it's probably a better idea than throwing punches at the moment, on account of my hand still hurts from over a week ago.
Writing is writing. You can't become a better writer if you don't write.
You need to punch something to exercise some actual strength, though. Although I do do that alongside a buncha other stuff when I get antsy.
I haven't been getting much of my actual story writing done lately, but my RPG and game reviews are coming along.
^^^ Exactly.
^^ A punching bag would be cool, yeah, but I don't know how I'd fit one in my room. And for the moment, it's probably best to get a feel for how much stamina I have, rather than hurting my hand even more. Not that I'm interested in strength, per se; I'm fine with being thin, but I'd like to tone a bit.
Hmmm...I'm trying to think of everyday objects that could be used as punching bags, but they'd all degrade pretty badly over time.
I can't just use my bed, since for one, springs and stuff that might end up being kind of loud, and for two, I can't practice proper form that way.
Don't know how I'd prop up books or clothes or blankets.
Hmm . . .
Wrap blankets around your fists and punch walls?
If I can find enough spare blankets, maybe.
Just go to the gym if you're interested in practicing beyond using it as a cardiovascular exercise.
It would work with shirts too; you likely have more of those.
^Well, sure, if you want to take the easy way out :P
^^ Revoked my gym membership recently, actually. I hate exercising in the presence of others. And I don't know if they even had boxing classes anyway.
^ Plenty more of those. Just a matter of getting a sufficient amount to fit on my hands and making them fit and stay.
finally got to start my job today
ended up sweeping the floor for two hours
You can work on your strength just fine with shadow boxing -- the issue is technique. The idea is to "pulse" power (rather than brute force) through your arm. So do this stuff:
If you do it with proper technique and vigour, it will work your arms pretty well. Combine it with some push ups, crunches and squats and you'll be working everything major.
You know, upon watching "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" one of the biggest themes through-out it seemed to be a very big lack of communication. (In comparison to how people say it was animal abuse that turned super-intelligent apes into their own army)
"Btw, this ape actually has human-level intelligence"
"Just in case you thought I was kidding, This APE HAS HUMAN LEVEL INTELLIGENCE"
Considering the nature of the source material and Bret Easton Ellis's other works, this could actually work as a parody.
So I got more info about CLEP testing from mom, and seeing how much I might save on classes, I was wondering something: can anyone who's taken an introductory course in Sociology or Psychology, either in high school or in college, tell me if an exam like that would probably test knowledge of specific people, or things that I couldn't just look up online and familiarize myself with? i.e. could I pass such a test without actually taking the relevant class (well, I took Psychology last year, but it was a lot of movies and stuff that seemed self-evident, so I'm not sure if it would help)?
Psychology exams generally cover well-known historical psychologists as well as principle knowledge. You'll probably need to know things like the different kinds of conditioning, a strong definition of behaviour, some psychological disabilities, the stages of sleep and some good examples of historical psychological case studies -- the Stanford prison experiment is a traditional and perfectly functional example.
