I found Princess Monoloke to be good if a little on the surreal side.
Mononoke is amazing.
I remember what I saw of Princess Mononoke being good, but this was like... a long time ago. At that point I wasn't even really much of an anime fan so I don't know what I'd think of it now.
In any case, I don't really ever feel any desire to watch any Ghibli movies, so I probably won't figure out for a long time.
And Evangelion is awesome, of course. Though, I think half the reason I liked it so much is just because of tsundere-moe, so maybe my opinion of it shouldn't be taken too seriously.
It is one of my favourite movies of all time.
My head hurts, I can't sleep it off and I'm cranky as fuck. And my family needs me to fix everything today, apparently.
how the fuck does reed richards deal with this
Juan: He deals with it by being really really really smart.
Are you such?
they should have been those tiny really stretchy dogs
awww, look at them. i just wanna hug them and ruffle their hair and them put them in my head as if they were my hat
^...well, that explains my short-fuse alright
There's actually a few pieces of evidence for Denna's patron being a Chandrian.
fuck, I have a hard time thinking of them right now, but I definitely remember the fire in the Forge being started because something froze. There were several reasons offered up for this, but considering that Denna left town with her new, white-haired patron at pretty much the same time, I'm inclined to think that's more than a coincidence.
As to the second- well, look at how old Kvothe's stories are already looking.
The other theory I have is that Denna's patron is that friendly noble guy Kvothe meets while in service to the Maer.
hey look, other people agree with me!
this is actually an interesting read.
Well, for one, it conjectures that Kvothe is the nephew of the Maer's wife, the Lady Lackless. This is supported a bit by several points- the song Kvothe sings at the start of NotW about Lady Lackless, and the song Kvothe's father sings to his wife, in which he calls her Tally, when the Lady Lackless' sister is called Natalia. Combine this with the whole temper tantrum Kvothe pulls when he says he knows the story of how the Lady Lackless' sister ran off to be with a trouper...
Watching Hidamari Sketch. It's apparently sufficiently good to get me to change my avatar and title.
It also points out something I didn't really realize on my first read-through, which was that the story of Iax and his trying to capture the moon was actually the story of the creation of the Fae.
Something I really love about this is that it does something only fantasy really can- it creates a plausible explanation for things we take for granted every day, that can only exist in this fantasy world. In this case, the moon shifts between 'our' world and the Fae- when it's a new moon here, there's a full moon there, and vice-versa.
The last thing that's pointed out to me; in the scenes with Denna, there's a deliberate meter to it.
Whale (from a page ago),
Btw, does anyone object to an Euro 2012 thread being made next week?
No, I think that sounds like a good idea. Is it true that the captain of the English team was telling English fans not to come because he was worried about native fans being racist in Ukraine/Poland?
DYRE,
I will be interested to hear what you think of the third season and how the new characters were handled. Have you seen GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class? I guess it has a kind of similar premise, so if you have yet to see it and like Hidamari Sketch, it might be worth checking out.
On a somewhat related note, would it be alright to make a general anime/manga topic now that we have a video games one?
I haven't seen GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class yet, no. I was actually considering watching it today, but I decided to watch Hidamari Sketch instead since it's more popular and is by SHAFT (and particularly, Akiyuki Shinbo). But I do plan to watch it sooner or later.
On that note, I also haven't seen Sketchbook yet, even though I downloaded it a really long time ago after seeing you talk about it. Perhaps I should get around to watching that too...
That'd probably be a good idea, yeah.
DYRE,
Yeah, I guess GA is more about actual art stuff than Hidamari Sketch is. Your mileage may vary on whether that is a good thing or a bad thing though.
As for Sketchbook, feel free to watch it if you want to, but I would not be surprised if you found it pretty boring since it is not exactly spectacular.
Oh, hey, I'm 20 now. How about that.
Happy Birthday.
Rock. 364 days until you can legally become as shitfaced as I often am.
Imagine I mocked the American constitution while drinking beer
So, I’ve been devouring All Star Superman because I felt really bad and let’s face it, there’s nothing that has the power to cheer me up as well as this book. In-between Superman playing with Krypto in the moon, the Bizarro’s speeches, Lex Luthor shaking the hand of a baboon dressed like Superman and Lois replying to Superman after being kidnapped again with a roll of her eyes and a “Don’t ask”, you’d think people would mention more just how damn funny this story is besides all the gravitas involved in the adventures of a dying Superman trying to outdo Hercules.
Oh, also, I didn’t notice the clever touches involved in Earth Q’s progression like a mysterious cartoonist creating an obvious Superman and the appereance of Nietzche (Which is prolly the only time I’ll ever be OK with the Ubermensch/Kal-El comparison)
^^Quite looking forward to that. There's a good pub down the street from my house, and they make great Fish & Chips, but I really would like to, you know, be allowed to drink there.
I'm already allowed to get drunk.
Also, you're not much more than a year older than me. What
hrrn. i am almost willing to spend the late birthday money i've got in booze right now were it not because i actually plan on pre ordering the avengers blu-ray and fixing my PS3 with it
Why do people think I'm old? T_T
