  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Driving around the Victorian countryside is sometimes like being somewhere else. When you're in the hills and there's a thick mist about, it really does seem like you could be in the UK countryside.

  • Driving through clouds in the mountains of NSW is so awesome.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

I don't mind the rain so long as I don't have to drive in it.

And I have to drive anywhere from sixty to a hundred and twenty miles a day three-five days out of the week.

  • Definitely not gay.

Holy fuck guys, I'm like, comparing Pokemon to Skyrim

So, like, Skyrim involves dragons waking up after the analogue to Hell is opened. B/W has Resh and Zek waking up after Platinum, in which Cyrus accidentally opens a portal to the Distortion World. If one has B, Zek is the closest thing to an Alduin analogue (although it is made explicit that N has control over Zek). And yeah this comparison isn't really working out

  • Well, this is a thing:

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

In the fantasy genre, there has been a fashion of depicting dragons in a positive light, as allies instead of adversaries. Dragons are increasingly viewed as friends of man and as highly intelligent and noble creatures, while still remaining the fearsome beasts of legend. They are frequently shown as guardians and close friends of individual humans. Many of these ideas were first popularised by Anne McCaffrey with her Dragonriders of Pern series, with later authors such as Christopher Paolini and J. K. Rowling also depicting sympathetic dragon characters in Eragon and Harry Potter, respectively.

Wait, Harry Potter had sympathetic dragon characters?

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

    Source?

And while the Harry Potter example might be erroneous (short of Norbert), the point is solid. Much like how we've domesticated every other monster out there. One thing I did appreciate about Dragon Age is how vicious and brutal dragons were depicted as, and I remember one in particular throwing a pretty terrifying tantrum.

    bam

    Oh I see.

    Re: Literature studies.

I'll give £1 to the first person who can guess who we had to study in for it at GCSE level.

  • Texts From Last Night makes me crave grilled cheese. Quite odd.

  • You can change. You can.

So, diploma's lost. Just what i needed. More problems to apply to places. Wheeeee

Physically lost, or revoked for some reason?

Physically lost. It has resurfaced now. Wheeee

I don't mean to bring up TVT again, and this thread is locked anyway, but I find Juan's quote here to be rather amusing.

whereas IJBM, while having been started by people who did not agree with the administration (And GMH)

I guess being Zoidberg here is a (dubiously?) good thing?

Though I...well, I don't quite agree with TVT's administration, but the founding of IJBM didn't really have anything to do with that (other than, at face value, the policy of removing IJBM).  Only later did this disagreement come to be relevant, as we were developing site rules for the new IJBM.

  • You can change. You can.

Well, from what I remember, Longfellow left because of disagreements with the way things were done. INUH would leave later, as well. You're...well, I guess you're more ambivalent about TvT than them.

Well, I like the site, at least for its basic idea as well as most of the content the TVT wiki has accumulated.  I guess Longfellow did leave for something like that, come to think of it.

As for INUH didn't come on board immediately, and was only promoted to admin much later.  I don't know when he left TVT.

  • You can change. You can.

It was relatively recent, but like I said, he would leave later.

I guess I was ascribing the way things are now to back when they were started, but I definetly think there was talk about TvT sucking here way back when this started, if not by the administrators and moderators themselves (And, let's face it, a site doesn't just start with its moderators and admins)

We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year

The Legend of Korra constantly using the "Korra gets in trouble with Tenzin over stupid shit" setup is really grating right now.

  • You can change. You can.

I think it's interesting, but I also feel that the "Korra needs to learn how to live in a society" thing can get pretty uninteresting if done weekly.

  • No rainbow star
Bleh. Got a D+ in fabrics (an assignment was never handed in. Despite the fact that no marks would have been docked for it being late. >.> Whenever anything I do is late I tend to hide and have severe troubles doing it)

Hope my other grades are better
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

I once got a B+ in a music theory class solely because I overslept and missed an exam.

  • Last night we played sealed games using the cards we'd normally use for cube drafting. For some reason we only played with the equivalent of 4 boosters. I played a WBR not-agro not-control no stragey deck (like many others'). Faired okayish.

I got the opposite impression, people seemed to still like, visit and occassionally advocate for TVT for the first  few months (even if they had issues with specific changes) before gradually changing throughout the SA/This Troper/OTC things, and not so gradually throughout the Troper Tales deletion thing. Though my perception might be tainted, as I used to be particularly bitchy about TVT's administration (see, I told y'all I was right).

  • I haven't liked TV Tropes ever since they got rid of IJBM, since that was the only worthwhile part, so...

I never really payed much attention to or cared about the administration or anything though.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I'm not sure whether the main cause of my leaving was getting bored of it or getting fed up with the administration's refusal to get stuff done.

  • Kichigai birthday!!

I still like to read works pages.

  • ^ This. Still enjoy reading those pages on occasion.

I actually do read works pages on occasion. I just avoid being an active member of the community or whatever.

I still edit work pages and stuff.  I kinda have a to-do list in terms of works pages and YKTTW stuff.

Sadly, starting last night I began wondering whether I should still keep this on the back burner, or just let it go in case TVT runs into further trouble (which seems to be a realistic possibility between Google Adsense trolling and large amounts of dissatisfaction among current and former users).

There was a period of time when I was far more interested in the forum than in the wiki itself.  However, my interest in the wiki has pretty much stayed constant, while my interest in the forum has greatly decreased, for various reasons:
    * the sheer speed of TVTF, which easily sucks up my time
    * various community activities on TVTF that I might have previously been interested in joining, which easily suck up my time
    * my experience having my time sucked up by (being emotionally invested in) policy and site change (e.g. rename) debates
    * my disagreements with how certain topics are considered off-limits on TVTF (here you see why I like to keep this place as open for discussions about anything as possible)

As you can see, this is a Playstation black disc.  Cut number one cont-- I do have disagreements with the way things are run, but a good chunk of my not being so active on the forum is practicality.

  • I stopped liking reading wiki pages before I stopped liking contributing before I stopped liking the forums before I stopped liking TV Tropes. ("Not liking" not meaning "disliking").
