    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Which is why he specifically states "If Kvothe's father's troupe was as famous as he says they are" and backs it up with a quote from the book that does claim that they are very famous.

Kvothe says that, and then proceeds to tell an anecdote in which they show up in a town, aren't recognized at all, are almost run out on general principle for being Edema Ruh, then produce a writ saying they're allowed to perform, after which they're very grudgingly allowed to stay. I think what we have here is a case of the narrator liking his parents a lot.

He's more than just an actor, though. He's an actor, a musician, an arcanist. Are you telling me that in three years, he never thought of a way to use any of these gifts to relieve the constant torment he talked about in that segment?

Like I said, that one's actually a good point and my justification is pretty flimsy :P

It is very inconsistent. Note how he does not worry about his use of sympathetic magic throughout the trip to the University, and nor when he gets in there

That's not inconsistent with his being obsessed with playing the lute to the point that he considers it a part of his person.

So, why is he so much more concerned with his lute-playing than with his sympathetic magic, when his sympathetic magic is the entire reason he is going to gain admittance to the University?

Because his music is what he considers most important in his life, as he says, repeatedly.

^Yeah, that's pretty much why TWMF is nowhere near as good as NOTW.

It is pretty silly that there is so very few instances of him being an unreliable narrator, then. At least, that we are given to tell.

He says that, but he also does silly things like give up his talents.

Yeah, that's pretty much why TWMF is nowhere near as good as NOTW.

    I haven't read TWMF yet :(

There are a few, I think. It's implied that he's not entirely reliable about Denna, for one thing.

    I haven't read TWMF yet :(

It's not as bad as I'm saying. It's just that there are cringeworthy bits (the ones shown in that comic), while there really weren't any in NotW.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

When it come out I thought that comic was about the witcher and was confused.

In any case I'll try it out after I finish rereading Neuromancer and the Elric books...

then considering its length will probably stop once Dresden Files, Spice & Wolf, and Haruhi come out.

  • Samara talks about how she's going to try to kill you once she's done working with you.

Actually, I believe what she says is that if she runs into you again, she'll try to kill you (Justicar code and all that), not that she'll specifically hunt you.

I said something like that, then read it in a day because I couldn't stop.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Dude, 200 page light reading takes me a few days.

    I am a terrible English major. ;_;

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

When I say "a day," I mean "24 hours without breaks."

    Maybe more like 18.

  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year

200 pages isn't even an hour of reading for me, what the hell

also: This trip to Jamaica is now making me miss my father's wedding. Wonderful...

  • 200 pages is like, realistically probably at least a day or two if I want to actually remember anything I read.

Probably only 2-3 hours of actual reading, but >reading for 2-3 hours at a time

    Has friends besides tanks now

It's been taking me even longer than a couple of days just to make any progress whatsoever in Blood Meridian, though that might just be because it's plot-lite. The prose is perhaps the best I've read, but there's really not much content to keep my attention, which is something that Jim Butcher could certainly teach McCarthy a thing or two about (maybe he could also snap McCarthy out of his pretentious punctuation-ignoring silliness).

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

this forum now looks really empty with only two stickied threads

  • And when I say "a day or two" I guess I actually mean "a couple years," since I'm technically still trying to read a 200-page book I borrowed from a friend several years ago... >.>

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

I'm a slow reader, and I have trouble focusing. I actually have a book out now, so I rarely ever do dedicated reading. It's usually between commercials, while online, etc.

Ahh, good old Attention Deficit Disorder...

  • this forum now looks really empty with only two stickied thread

    So that's what it is

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I wonder if I could convince Everest or INUH to at least re-sticky the Introductions thread.

  • Has friends besides tanks now

If I find it necessary, I can read two pages a minute (which still doesn't beat how fast people like Wicked and Hatter can apparently read) while still retaining the important bits, by moving across each line rapidly with my finger. But I've only done that in order to slog through James Farce, so far; otherwise, I read maybe two pages per three minutes (also depends on font, of course) for maximum enjoyment. Might be a technique worth picking up again. Maybe it'll even end up helping my retension of words outside my everyday vocabulary.

    Mods have three :3

^^That might be a good idea. I'll get a second opinion before doing it though.

  • Has friends besides tanks now

Hmm. Well, it's already linked to in the Useful Threads sticky, but it's possibly the second most important, behind the rules of the site. I suppose it'd be good to leave with more exposure.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I'll do it for now, then.

I considered bringing it up when I proposed the "useful threads" thread, but then I didn't >.>

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Done. Considering changing the name, though. It looks kinda out-of-place now.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Just rename it "Introduce yourself here" then?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Yeah, something like that.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

IJBM: Armormech is only good for making armour for companions and I can't make any decent armour for my Sith Marauder.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Man, the 90s Spider-man cartoon is so bad. How could I have ever liked this? Better not try the X-men one on second thought?

  • You can change. You can.

I've been drowning in JLA action. I now crave Flash shenanigans from Waid's days.

Also, I've been asked to report on a hunger strike going on at my university. Not sure if want and not sure if want to go there and ask myself instead of finding out through interneting.

  • Wow, I am actually excited by a new anime, tsuritama. Here's the OP:

This seems like it's going to be a really fun series, and is available on Crunchyroll.

  • Seem to have chosen Morinth, because Dominate is hilarious. But I may go back and undo that.

    Do it.

    but...effort.

you see the issue, don't you

also, i'm not sure if i can write about anything that isn't movies >_>
