To be fair, rust's a bit of a dying resource
First episode of Smile Precure watched. Looks like it'll be awesome. Funny, very cute... the fight wasn't great but it's just the first episode and presumably the fights will be more actiony once the main character(s) actually, like, fights. Doubtful it'll be able to be as good as Heartcatch (though it looks like it's trying to be similar) but that's only based on the first episode so... who knows? I really like the fairytale motif, but I'm not sure how far they'll take it. Too bad Cure Peace is going to be the third Cure, because that means I'll have to wait at least one more episode (and possibly more, if they aren't just going to assemble all the Cures right at the start) before she starts getting a lot of focus, since she seems like she'll be my favorite of the main characters.
>buy Kingdoms of Amalur
>two hours later, get an email from EA telling me I should buy Kingdoms of Amalur
Having watched my brother play the demo of Kingdoms of Amalur, I can safely say that I could not notice a single way in which Kingdoms of Amalur is not just Fable with a different name.
I've never played a Fable game, but I've seen it.
I didn't think KoA had a good/evil system, which is kinda the main point of Fable.
The points raised here are ridiculously smart, but the presentation is frustrating.
Anyway, I think I'll pick it up when the price goes down. I want it, but there's other stuff that's coming out soon that I want enough to pay full price for, like Mass Effect 3.
Yeah, I've actually got a lot of preorders open right now on Amazon...I can afford it, though, since I'm going to be doing some work for my local florist next week.
Well, this is only a couple of days, and it's the only job I've had since summer 2009, so I think you get the better end of the bargain overall :P
You know, I love Arkham Asylum. I think it's probably the best part of the Batman Mythos. Even above Bruce, his enemies or his acquaintances. It manages to be both a symbol of what Batman wishes and what Batman fears in one fell swoop, as well as a fitting Lovecraft reference.
Yeah, it's kinda one of those lovely things that just works on every possible level.
fucking lies
Good/Evil and Purity/Corruption.
Other people here watch Precure? Well, that's news to me.
Not in the first Fable.
I loved that Sequelitis video. Really on the ball with its commentary on narrative and very amusing to boot. Then again, I'm a sucker for stop-start humour.
I watch it. Well, I am watching it at the moment, I'm 13 episodes into the first series.
I've never played it :V
Ah...
How do you like it?
While a few things in that series I thought were not so great (most of the later villains in particular), one thing that I liked a lot and wish it were in the later Precure series was that Honoka and Nagisa could only use their powers if they were together. The actual effect it has on episode plots is pretty minimal, but at the very least, it was nice in a thematic way.
Also, episode 13 means you are on the episodes that have Poisony as a villain, which is good because Poisony was my favorite villain in that series.
The second-last episode I watched was the first to star Poisony, as she attempted to deceive Honoko and Nagisa into giving her Mipple and Mepple.
The fact they had to work together led to some interesting dynamics. They are very different characters, but they compliment each other more than they rub against each other.
So far, I like it. I like Nanoha more, but I'm finding it to be more enjoyable than CardCaptor Sakura was. It's a fun series to watch, if not a particularly smart one.
However, I do wish it had a more involved plot.
Does this apply to death umbrellas and death elevators too? ...Also, now I think about it, a Death Note holder seems to have taken up residence there as well.
And CCS was like my second anime series ever. First being Pokémon.
no
should i?
Yeah, I can understand that. Though personally, I kind of prefer it being simple and episodic like it is. Mostly because I don't think I have the attention span to keep track of a non-trivial plot that lasts like 50 episodes.
Unfortunately, Nanoha and Sakura are the two shows I have watched that are closest to Pretty Cure. Otherwise, I'd have to bring up Fullmetal Alchemist, or Kamen Rider, which bear even less resemblance.
That said, there are a few things that annoy me about Futari Wa Pretty Cure. The transformation sequences, for one- literally every episode, do we really have to view the entire thing every episode? And Nagisa annoys me when she gets all googly-eyed about that soccer captain guy.
Also, Meeple and Mepple annoy me really badly. Especially the "mepoooooo~~~~~~~~~~~~~" that he sticks onto the end of literally every sentence.
Transformation sequences are, for better or worse, a part of the genre that isn't likely going away any time soon. It's ultimately a cost-saving technique, and a really really obvious one at that, but at the same time I kind of like the transformation sequences so I don't usually mind watching them.
Mepple and Mipple really did annoy me too though. It's not so much their verbal tics though, since I've just sort of gotten used to that sort of thing, but how outrageously clingy they always were with one another. Okay, and the verbal tics too. >.>
Turns out I can register at the University of Palermo. Now let's see whether they accept me and whether I'll have to move to Argentina or what.
In other news, I have to go tomorrow to meet an old professor to get German classes because why not.
Yeah, it's not so major an issue that it's a deal-breaker, I just usually skip ahead in the episode to the point it ends. Although I do tend to binge a bit, so watching five episodes back-to-back really makes it obvious, and kinda gets wearisome. I imagine it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't binge like that.
The other thing about Mepple that annoyed me was how badly he treats Nagisa, and yet the story kind of treats it as okay. It's like, him constantly calling out in class asking for Mipple could get Nagisa and Honoka discovered, and it could literally wreck her life if he does it enough, but when Nagisa gets annoyed by him it's treated as this terrible thing.
Stormtroper aproves.
