  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
So if Burger King isn't hiring they shouldn't have a sign that says they're hiring.

    Just an opinion.
  • I post when sloshed from time to time. Since I'm usually a bit rambly, no-one will notice the difference. Only happens cos the frat has a room full of computers right next to the bar/dancefloor hall, since I'm not much of a solo drinker.

    >two hours gone
    >still have to do homework for two more classes
    >wanted to play more Magic
    >Skyrim is sitting in front of me and I don't quite feel like playing it

Also, I've already stated where I am on the whole drinking thing a few times, so I imagine at least some of you might remember.

    i don't understand

^I understand, but only because I have to write my next liveblog entry before playing any more...
  • You can change. You can.

I don't. Although knowing you, I'm guessing "Not interested"

^ Bingo. Well, I've never had more than a glass of wine, so I haven't been well and truly drunk, and I'm not entirely sure if I plan to. I suppose I haven't lived until I've gotten drunk at least once, though.

^^, ^^^ It's probably because I just finished an important event/great breaking point, so it will feel like I'm starting a new story arc when I pick it up again; therefore, there's really nothing compelling/nagging at me want to pick it up again when I could mess around with Magic cards.

    How far are you?

Just finished the quest where [the Jarl of Whiterun sends us to kill a dragon and I learn I'm a Dragonborn.] Well, I got up through [being declared a Thane and meeting Lydia before I stopped.]

That's just main quest stuff; I've done some other things, although I know I haven't even scratched the surface.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Ah, okay.

I've played for well over a hundred hours, and there are entire cities I haven't even bothered with yet.

"I've played for well over a hundred hours, and there are entire cities I haven't even bothered with yet."

Fuck it, I'm sticking to the main quest for my first playthrough (unless I absolutely have to do some sidequest stuff to beat the main quest). I want to see about getting another game or two for/by Christmas time (probably Bayonetta and/or Catherine), and I don't want to get into the habit of getting games without beating them, so I'm not getting any new ones until I beat the main story of the one I'm currently on. With as little time as I make for myself, I probably wouldn't finish Skryim before entering college if I actually did lots of sidequests.

If I beat the main quest, can I go back and do any number of sidequests that I may or may not have started without things being weird? I like my current character and want to do all this at some point, but I don't want to take that much time right now.

Jesus Balls it is cold outside.

I just put the cars away and cee-rhist, no wonder my father made me do it.

I think in the process of doing the main quest, you have to kinda initiate the trigger for the Mage's College and possibly the Thieves' guild (though I think the latter's avoidable), but you don't really have to join them.

And yeah, you can do everything reasonably.

Though the civil war and main quests are different depending on which you do first (it's more interesting to do the main quest first).

    >get email from a teacher I asked for a recommendation letter
    >she says she'll have it done by the end of the week
    >that's what she said last week

How much will colleges care if I apply at the regular deadline really close to said deadline?
  • Isn't the main priority grades?
  • Don't think there's a time when I've ever not been drunk.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.

You can avoid the thieves guild trigger completely.

^^^ Yeah, but I need at least one rec letter for most of the places I'm applying (one needs two) to apply, and I'd rather send in more than one, if I can help it.

Is it a problem if my grades/SAT scores/classes taken are rather far in excess of some of the places I'm considering? Is there an easy way to find out which colleges are right about at my level that doesn't involve some convoluted signing-up process/annoying emails?

^^Yeah, okay, I wasn't sure because on my first file, I had already joined and on my second, I did it because it was interesting in my journal.

^My school had a thing that did that, but...I dunno about elsewhere.

Actually, I think the schools I looked at had the top 75% as being around/slightly lower than my SAT's most frequently, not the max/top 10 percentiles. So I guess that's actually a pretty good thing.
  • "Is it a problem if my grades/SAT scores/classes taken are rather far in excess of some of the places I'm considering?"

I find it absurd that any postsecondary institution will reject you for having too high credentials.

^ Probably helps that a student who can do that well probably knows to aim higher anyway. Just one of my paranoid what-if-I-applied-to-the-wrong-place worries, I guess.

Besides, the places I'm applying to are right about where I'd go. I'll probably use University of Iowa and Boston University as safety schools, and Kenyon College and University of Michigan will be the ones I aim high for, if mom lets me apply to eight, or just Kenyon if she'll only allow six applications.
  • I don't think you should worry too much about which one you get into. Several sources have said that you're only paying for the brand name of the higher-end universities.

I know. I think the majority of the ones I've looked at supposedly have good English programs, though--or at least a couple (in fact, looking at one review site, the only thing UIowa has going for it is its English program. And being in Iowa, if you like the scenery, I guess. Can't be sure, though; like I said, safety/better financial aid school), and I've chosen a few in Boston because we visited there and I liked the campuses and/or would find it convenient that it's not too far away (and my stepbrother lives fairly close to them, which is kinda cool).
  • I think I may be shipping Waltzy and Cygan now.

Urgh, English One then another extension lesson next.

I think I'm slipping down a slippery slope.

Exactly a year after first getting into Warhammer, I've bought my first Warhammer novel today.

I like licensed novels for stuff like that. They aren't usually particularly well written, but I like how they expand the universe of the franchise in question, and sometimes they actually tell pretty interesting stories.

Not Warhammer in particular, considering I've never actually played it/read the fluff/whatever, but still.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
I picked up the first Ciaphas Cain omnibus specifically because I knew that it, and anything written by Dan Abnett, are NOT shit.

    So far I'm not disappointed.
  • I wish this forum interested me more. I would post here more often but I never feel like I have anything worthwhile to say.
