    My dad just sat down and talked to me at length about what college would be best for me.

    As far as I can tell, "best for me" means "really, really cheap."

    If I didn't know they could afford college just fine, I'd be okay with that, but...

    Er...well, what I mean is that you have to pay for each year at the start.

    My current school is something like $35000 a year.

    Nah, including that, it's $39000. But I have a $1000/year scholarship, so it's $38000.

    ^Well, I think it's by semester or something, but yeah, pretty much.

    So to be clear:
    By the time you would graduate you'd have paid 117k?

    No, a semester is half a year.

    That said, I looked some stuff up and it looks like at least one of the schools I've looked at would give me $5.5K need-based aid even before the possibility of merit-based aid.

    since people use this thread more to just chit chat about stuff instead of updates, why don't rename it to something more friendly, like the bar, or this pub I used to know called "The Hangout", where people usually go to chill out and talk about what's new with them.

    Just a thought.

    In-state students, though, get to go free unless they screw up their GPA. In which case they pay a third of what I'm paying.

    I have to say:
    Holy Shit.

    Your fees are high.
    My Uni education cost me Roughly £21k in total. (Including the loan that we are given yearly to spend on living.)
    I didn't have to pay upfront  I just have to have my earnings have an amount reduced after. (Unless I am below a certain earnings line, or it is 25yrs later.)

    I have to agree with TheConductor I feel education should be 'free'.
