    It doesn't look old, but it's clearly (relatively) low-budget. Just compare it to, again, Fullmetal Alchemist, by the same studio less than two years later.

    I do think they are more an exception than a rule, though.

    Well, I figure, if there are only a few tropers where I go to college, the odds of them being the insufferable type of troper is diminished, as are my odds of being forced to interact with them.

    There are some cool tropers that I met, but I figure the odds of meeting one of them vs. meeting one of the types I hate is astronomical.

    Also, as for Rahxephon...welp, I'll be blunt here. I hate anime style animation. I truly do. But Rahxephon was throughly worthwhile the effort. NGE and TTG too, but you get the idea.

    But those are the types of annoying people I'm used to dealing with. I only know of one troper I know in real life so far, and despite his being one of my best friends, he's reeeeeaaaaally obnoxious. And he has Asperger's too, of course (or at least he says he's been diagnosed with it; I'm not qualified to say if I believe him or not).

    I'd rather deal with macho guys tossing around f-bombs to look cool than creepy people tossing around stupid-sounding/weird anime references to look cool.

    Blah blah generalizations blah.

    bleh, like isaid generlalizations. dismissing someone because they hang out in TvT seems to me just as bad as dismissing someone because they are a jock or a geek. They have bad taste, but that doesn't necessarily make them bad people.

    Well, it's not that I would dismiss them immediately; it's just that I would dismiss them as soon as they toss Trope names around for no reason. That's freaking annoying. I can find someone insufferable without thinking they're a bad person.

    Oh, I'm kinda used to that too. But I'm not used to the tropey kind, which I find even worse.

    Anyway, if it's a TV series, then I generally dislike Western-style animation due to its overreliance on motion/shape tweening and static camera angles and whatnot.  Movies of course have much higher budgets, so they manage to avoid doing things like that and as such they often manage to look quite nice.  Anime has a tendency to not actually be animated much of the time, and lower framerates and whatnot but overall I think they make better use of their limited budget than Western TV series do, by at least trying to make things visually interesting even if they can't afford really high-quality animation.
