IJBM Anime Club: Gunbuster (Not actually watching Gunbuster anymore)
Comments
Oh, just asking whether I should find this in a stream or a waterfall.
Pro tip: streaming is always shit. And the whole series takes up like 1 GB seriously it's not a big deal.
And you could always get rid of it after we're done.
But...but...social obligation to contribute back to the pool that contributed to me!
LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH
Okay then, you could just stream it.
I think we're just waiting for JHM, who's having a problem with his home Internet.
Interesting. MAL average score for Time of Eve is a whopping 8.47. That's pretty high.
It's also lower than the MAL average for Sword Art Online, so MAL scores don't really mean anything. (yes, I know, SAO is currently airing, is vaguely related to something else that is popular, etc., but I stand by my statement regardless)
> is vaguely related to something else that is popular
hm?
The author of the SAO LNs also writes Accel World.
Oh.
How recent is Time of Eve?
2008-2009.
Hmm...that's about the cutoff for when I'd say the score should be reasonably useful.
Ehhh...
Aside from MAL users being notoriously bad at rating things, a numerical average rating isn't very useful anyway. You can (or, well, you should be able to) enjoy things that not everyone else does, and likewise you shouldn't like every single thing that's popular. It's pretty easy to actually do some research on a show, particularly actually reading reviews, but even just like... looking at its tags on AniDB or something to see if it has elements you like. And if you do that, then you will actually know if you in particular can expect to like something, rather than just whether or not the portion of the userbase of MAL that watched some of the anime in question and bothered to rate it liked it.
So are we doing this?
Well yeah, ideally. I think we were waiting on JHM?
^ Yep.
I've watched the first episode already FYI.
I vote we just start now. JHM said he wasn't sure when he was going to be back to stable internet and I don't want to leave it for weeks more if it takes that long.
Any objections to me starting the thread?
Just watched the first episode. This show has the potential to do a lot, is all I can say at the moment.
Okay, multiple people have started the show, I'm making the thread. Kinda silly to discuss it in here.
I figured we would just use this thread for everything and change the title depending on what we're watching at any time. I don't know why there needs to be a thread for each anime, when we could probably just add links to the OP with permalinks to the first post pertaining to each anime.
Seems cleaner to start a new thread. I mean, we made the decision to start this thread rather than using the main "anime club" thread, right? So I figured that was the precedent.
And I already went and started the thread, so.
