IJBM Anime Club: Gunbuster (Not actually watching Gunbuster anymore)
Comments
Seems like a decent suggestion. I don't object to that.
That's a good idea.
@Scitzo:
If we do it I'd much prefer it to be the OVAs because the whole reason I suggested it is because I have the DVD set of them on my shelf unwatched. As for FLCL it's a decent show and one I'd be interested in seeing it again, but since we did something I watched before I'd prefer something I haven't seen this time.[/selfish]
As for taking turns I am okay with that but we need to make sure that the shows are still things that people other than the turn-taker are actually interested in. (Though of course on the flipside people should be open-minded, that's half the point of something like this.)
The final person could just offer multiple suggestions, getting feedback from others on what is the most agreeable. But even then, if they're dead-set on a certain show that isn't morally objectionable, I'd say we should trust them to at least hope for our entertainment. I mean, even the first pick of this club wasn't the most enthralling thing for everyone (I don't think I was the only person who was having trouble bringing themselves to finish it, and I say this without any condemnation of the show itself).
While I'm here: can we set a date for watching Time of Eve's first episode? And a timeframe for finishing it? I don't remember how long we gave everyone last time, but would it be too much to ask for us to finish an episode, say, every three days?
Last time we tried for two days per episode, I think?
Yeah. Though it apparently didn't work out so well. >.>
We could try two days per episode again though, especially since each episode is shorter than Gunbuster's (although I guess it probably wouldn't matter too much. If you don't have half an hour to watch anime, you probably also don't have 17 minutes to watch anime). But three might work better. I dunno.
Time of Eve's episodes actually vary in length, though I think they're all under 30 minutes.
I actually just suggested that without remembering how many days we gave per Gunbuster episode. Either's fine with me.
> isn't morally objectionable
LET"S WATCH ASTAROTTE"S TOY LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Okay...
So can anybody PM me... the... the...
I don't know where to find subs for Time of Eve okay?
It is available on a certain popular anime torrent site whose name begins with a B, although only in 480p. I can't seem to find it in higher quality than that anywhere actually (except the movie version).
Thanks!
^^ There doesn't seem to be any English-subbed release of the BD version of the ONA at all, according to aniDB. Although it seems there actually was a BD released, but maybe subbers just didn't care by then since the movie was already out.
I'd watch Time Of Eve. It sounds genuinely interesting, if a touch brief. Then again, FLCL was brief, too, and I felt no dissatisfaction in its conclusion, so...
I don't see why being short would matter. All it really means is that they have to write... a shorter story. But more importantly, for the purposes of this club shorter is a lot better, at least until we prove that we can actually get through a show reasonably well.
But in any case, if Time of Eve is what we're watching... we should decide when we're going to start, right? I'm willing to start whenever, so... I dunno. Would anybody not be able to start watching soonish?
(Also, to clarify, we'd be watching the ONA version, not the movie version, right? Since the movie doesn't have episodes and all...)
Depends on how long it'll take to torrent.
I probably won't be able to start for a while, as my home internet connection is off and I'm not quite sure when it will be back on. I could watch the show in the library perhaps, if I were creative, but I couldn't guarantee it.
^^ Took me like 10 minutes. Downloading it shouldn't be an issue.
^ That might be an issue though.
You need a premium membership to watch more than the first episode.
Man, really? The show is like four years old.,,
I have ways...
*shifty looks*
Oh, yeah. For the record, I've got the series downloaded and I'm ready to go. Won't help JHM, but it's one less person to worry about, right?
I have also downloaded it.
I can watch it whenever.
I'm ready too.
Tell me, is this a series worth keeping, or just one-off watching to see if I like it?
^ Haven't seen it yet.
Do we have a date for watching this yet?
