So, I've been watching some of the Director's Cut material and it kinda feels weird how much the movie loses in terms of tone without the original opening scene, but on the other hand, what the movie would gain in terms of tone it seems it would lose in terms of pacing.
Overall, it's really weird because the Whedon's vision for the Avengers definetly was akin to the Dirty Dozen sort of movie and even if it ended up being more like the Magnificent Seven, you can sort of see the Dirty Dozen inspired work in there. It's just that a lot of the scenes that sustain that vision would drag the movie down.
