Thought that was pretty interesting.
Full SMT: IV trailer, it looking to be a a corridor rpg with 1st person battles. I can't wait for it.
Bioware finally officially announced Dragon Age III: Inquisition on their blog. Not much info, but apparently it's going to run on a modified Frostbite 2 engine.
^^ Looks great! I'm glad to see the 3DS really pick up on the JRPG scene -stares angrily at Vita-
Though I'm wary of the time travel plot, those can either be great or horrid to sit through, but the gameplay looks promising enough to save a bad plot.
YES!
Man, all of you should check out Secret of Mana 2. It's everything good about the first Secret of Mana made even better. The AI is also less retarded and can actually be smarter than the player sometimes.
Pretty sure that was just Vaati.
Ganon is the final boss of Four Swords Adventures.
Oh, really?
I've only played Four Swords and Minish Cap.
So, the Humble Indie Bundle 6 is out, and it includes the first Torchlight of all things.
Yeah, it's definitely a steal for Torchlight alone. $5.46 (currently) compared to $14.99 on both GOG and Steam!
I got Torchlight in the Steam summer sale, and I really couldn't see the appeal
Anyway, in other news, finally playing Black Mesa. It's pretty awesome, though HL2 Gordon kind of sucks at HL1 jumping puzzles.
Man, I knew the boss fights on Deus Ex were bullshit but actually playing them is like
how high must you be to come up with all this bullshit.
I think Torchlight usually gets -66%'d on Steam to $5.09. I'm not sure.
But more importantly, it has both that and Rochard.
On the other hand, the current Indie Royale...has the premiere release of Bunny Must Die! And Sequence as well (though I already have that on Steam...though this will conveniently give me a DRM-free instance).
^If you're interested in trying it out, a friend of mine has an extra copy of Torchlight from pre-ordering the second game.
They were developed by an entirely different team who had never heard of the series before.
^That was Human Revolution. He's talking about the first game. At least there, most of them could be avoided.
I thought it was Human Revolution he was playing.
If not, I'm not sure why he was talking about the boss fights being bullshit, since they're all either easy or skippable.
I meant Human Revolution and I knew that. But even then, I figure that a different team should have been given enough info to work on the game in the first place which is why it simply baffles me.
Fair enough.
There's a lot of stuff to indicate that the game was rushed a bit. Not enough to break down entirely, but enough for there to be pointless boss fights and a two-level upgrade that does absolutely nothing.
Hacking: Analyse? or something else entirely
Yeah.
It does technically have effects, but it's absurdly minor.
@Crimson: I kinda have already tried it out, albeit briefly, and it's also not very high on my priority list. It's like, a game that I want to play mostly because other people have said it's good.
CU: I figured it didn't really matter.
Regarding the Humble Indie Bundle: My brother just got it today, Dustforce is amazing, it plays much like a 2D version of the 3D Shinobi would (this is less similar to the actual 2D shinobi games than it would intuitively appear). Torchlight doesn't seem like my thing, but I'll try the other ones later. Still, the powerhouses of the last bundle will be really hard to beat.
Regarding Spec Ops: I'll post my thoughts when I figure out how these new spoiler thingies work.
stuff
Welp, that's simple enough. It seems to mesh clunkily into text, though, so I'll just add a warning of pseudo spoilers here (that is, there are no direct spoilers to the story, but I'd recommend not to read ahead if you plan on playing the game, I'll include tags for really spoilery stuff).
In any case, I really loved the game and how it really tried to push the boundaries of narrative in games (incorporating the mechanics into the storytelling, not trying to be "fun", etc.), specially for a large release such as this one. It's also interesting the way it challenges both the typical "realistic" FPS story and the wish fulfillment aspect of videogames as a whole. As such, I'm not bothered by the so called "lack of choice" since it resonates strongly with said themes (it's really ridiculous to think that you could really be in control of the events that unfold).
However,
People also complained that they realized that the last batch of people were civilians but were forced to kill them to proceed, breaking immersion. I didn't have this problem because I was about to get killed, prompting me to really rush it, trying to eliminate all the targets as fast as possible, without stopping to think. This actually made the realization much more powerful post facto.
I believe that's how they intended the scene to play out. I was playing in normal mode, so while many people recommend (particularly to those who aren't big fans of shooters, such as myself) to play in easy mode, in order to get through the story, I think that in order to get the best experience out of the game, it has to be in a difficulty level that is both challenging and frustrating.
As for the choices:
I tried to save Gould, because I really couldn't spot where they took the civilians on the screen.
I mercy-killed the other agent.
Rather than shooting the civilians, or shooting at the air, I hit one with melee (in the hopes of scaring them without killing), then Adams started shooting at the air, so I assume they both have the same effect.
I shot myself, but it took me so long to decide, that both shots actually got off
I don't buy the thing about people realizing the civilians were civilians (well, I believe they realized it, but I don't think it's that much of a flaw). I never actually shot at them (though I didn't realize they were civilians), but when I hit the last tank, the fire spread from there and engulfed them, so it seems it would happen either way.
Also, can i just say that I loved that whole final scene with Konrad?
