Baldur's Gate Enhanced also comes out in a week.never mind, apparently it just got delayed two months.Does there exist a Neverwinter Nights 1: Platinum Edition?
I know there exists a NWN2: Diamond Edition and a NWN2: Platinum Edition. Which one has more stuff?
^^^^ Isn't that obvious though? I thought everyone knew that.
I mean, NES games cost like $50+ each, which is very close to what games cost now, except that was over 20 years ago. And a lot of games actually cost more than $60, so...
Black Mesa is now available for download!
For those of you who don't check out the Kickstarter thread, Project Eternity is an isometric, party-based RPG set in a new fantasy world developed by Obsidian Entertainment.
So a copy of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box has somehow materialized in my bedroom. Like, I never bought it and nobody in my family did and nobody I know did, and yet somehow I have a copy of it.
In any case, is it worth playing?
Yes, yes it very much is. All of the Professor Layton games are pretty nifty, and I hope the Layton Brothers iOS game makes it overseas. If not, The Curse is pretty cool too.
So I can confirm that Black Mesa is a great mod. It's nearly indistinguishable from how Valve would have done a full-on remake of HL, with very high production values, a new voice cast, a remixed soundtrack and a fully-rerendered world. You can easily see those 8 years of development paying off brilliantly, unlike a certain other former vaporware game. Go download it now!
Playing through Hell Temple in the La-Mulana remake. (Despite not finishing the game first.) Holy hell, it's freaking brutal! The original was just plain frustrating, but you're actually in danger of dying in this one! On the plus side, it's nowhere near as frustrating as the original. On the minus side, said frustration will be replaced by fear. Fear of dying in Hell Temple, and losing all your precious progress. I've had to grail out a few times due to being near death a lot. On the plus side, there's no bats in the Hell Temple. Minus side? They've been replaced by the ninjas. Ugh.
So it doesn't actually keep you alive in order to torment you?
Nope. Even if you're fully equipped and prepared, you can still die. It's less hellish in that it's not "eternal torture" or anything like that. It's straight up BRUTALLY challenging bonus level. They got rid of some the frustrating parts, or made them easier, and just replaced them with challenging parts. Oh, if you decide to tackle Hell Temple, stack up on weights. You WILL waste a lot of weights due to falling in Land of Hell a lot. (They still exist, and so does the corresponding puzzle.) If you fall into the first one, do that part of the puzzle, and just grail out. It's not worth the effort to fight your way out, you'll take too much damage to be able to deal with the later rooms.
So yeah, they changed Hell Temple drastically. There's only one Hadoken turtle in the 1st room, and you don't have to kill him. The 2nd room got entirely replaced. The teleporter puzzle's gone, you just have to place weights in a room full of enemies, no biggie. 3rd room was made easier. You can tell where the trap doors are now, and it's just a matter of tricky platforming. The bats are completely gone. In fact, they might not even exist in Hell Temple anymore. Probably cause the Scriptures make them useless. 4th room was changed from a filler room, to a VERY tricky platforming room. Basically, there are 2 dais hanging in midair, with 3 EXTREMELY TINY moving platforms in the room. And it's tricky to place the 2nd weight because the 3rd platform moves pretty fast. It's nerve wracking, and this room doesn't get easier to get through after you solve the puzzle. 5th room got changed into an Amphisbaena room. You have to place 2 weights while dodging a ton of enemies and fire breaths (blockable with an Angel Shield, thankfully.) Very aggravating. 6th room's same as before, they just made the jump to the dais a lot more trickier. 7th room got changed into Sakit's room, and oh god how I hate this room! This very room was the cause of many, many retreats. There's 3 dais you have to place weights on, 2 of which are in midair, and need moving platforms to reach. Easier said than done, because Sakit's arms are constantly shooting at you, which can knock you into the floor full of spikes. And Hell Temple spikes do not follow the new rules of La Mulana. They follow the old rules. Meaning that if you stay in them, you will keep taking a ton of damage. It's just better to keep letting Sakit's arms shoot you, they do less damage. 8th room is similar to before, a bomb puzzle, but much trickier, unless you have an active Lamp of Time. Then it's a complete joke. You still have to jump to the left after this, and yes, the shortcut is still there. Thank god! 9th room is the same as before. 10th room is Elmac's room, and where I stopped. So yeah, it's pretty brutal.
Oh gosh...they basically have you re-fight all the bosses?
Oh...holy gosh.
Though I see what you mean by them replacing frustration with difficulty.
Huh? Oh, good heavens, no! That would make Hell Temple almost impossible! I meant that some of the rooms had a statue of a boss' body part attacking you. One room is filled with Amphisbanea heads that shoot fire at you. Sakit's room has 2 arms rapidly shooting energy balls at you, and Elmac's room has his head shooting energy balls at you.
So does New Hell Temple have stuff like making you go all the way back through a whole bunch of tricky platforming section if you fall through? What about what happens when you return to New Hell Temple, does it save your progress or provide shortcuts in any way?
Also, don't forget the penultimate challenge of original Hell Temple:
I only made it to the 10th room. It still has the Lands of Hell. (And the sleeping puzzle still exists.) The 2nd room shortcut still exists, thankfully. I don't know about the rest. But the lack of bats should remove some of the frustration.
So I found out that Ganondorf is at the bottom of the SSBB tier list
irony once you consider that story-wise Ganondorf is probably the strongest playable character in SSBB
I felt that they should have put the difficult levels earlier in the game.
He's also the strongest considering gameplay. It's just that he's too motherfucking slow
Not just physically strong. Strong as in power-level wise.
Ah.
It's kind of like how Shuma-Gorath sucks in MvC3 gameplay-wise when he would kill everyone by laughing story-wise
While I hate (read: love) to sperglord over this kind of stuff, we should also note that Gannondorf has been killed by a child/teenager multiple times.
Also, there are Fire Emblem characters in the SSB series (lol bias).
A child/teenager that is also the reincarnation of a legendary hero and possesses the Triforce of Courage and a magical, evil-slaying sword.
Remember that the legendary hero was also a child/teenager when he fought Ganondorf
All I'm saying is that Link's not your average kid. Well he would be if kids these days kill magma dragons, giant bugs, giant fish, mask demons, sword demons and kings of the underworld.
You clearly are not a true 90s kid
Jus' saiyan, Gannondorf's track record is almost as bad as Skeletor's.
Another major factor is that Link is the only being who can kill Ganon.
At the very least, Link defeating Ganondorf so often should mean that his power level is higher than Ganondorf's.
