I won't be online until tonight, though, so you have some time to catch up.
Also, what's the spoiler policy for this thread going to be? Just mark everything under spoilers, just the big stuff, just not even bringing up the really big stuff...?
I'd say the policy is something like:
Big spoilers: Hide it in some way, be it with a togglebox, spoilerbox, black background, whitetext, whatever.
Small spoilers: Maybe a courtesy warning at the start of the post or something.
It's done loading from the disc and is now installing
Downloading the collector's edition stuff...
Now it's just toying with me.
Thank god for preloads. :P
Even if it didn't let me on until 12:05. Bastards.
Downloading Mass Effect 3. Oh boy.
As a reminder, my Origin username is gentlemanorcus1.
So...Udina is on the council now. That's...odd. Makes sense, but makes that decision in ME1 seem like it has less impact.
Three hours in, I took a tour of the Normandy, and after that, felt ready to take a break. It says a lot about ME3 that that was the first moment when I felt the need to.
So this thread has made me want to rebuy Mass Effect and get ME2 for the first time. I even have a fun little character arc I'm gonna roleplay for Shepherd (a generally paragon soldier who tries to do his best to help people, but has a bad temper and a few key subjects make him do very bad things. As I play the games, he'll become more and more renegade).
I think Anderson resigned in one of the novels, IIRC. It does kinda suck that it doesn't make a difference who you picked, but Anderson was never really a politician anyway.
I was surprised by how reasonable he seemed compared to how he's been before.
On the whole, I've been really enjoying it so far. I've only really done the first two story missions after you get control of the Normandy, and I'm excited to see what's going to happen next.
I'd recommend heading to Eden Prime before you visit the Turians. Javik's got some of the best lines.
Bit late for that :P
Mordin continues to be best squadmate from ME2.
And Grunt is also totally fucking awesome.
Haven't seen either of them.
Kasumi is pretty awesome, though.
How the hell did they manage to have Jack wear more clothes, but simultaneously make her outfit more revealing?
god damn it bioware
you took my favorite part of mass effect 2 and ruined it in the best possible way
you
you
;_;
^ lol I dunno.
"Empty Atlas (Use)"
Oh, fuck yes.
So I played it for about six hours last night. Man ME3 is a blast. The running and gunning is a lot more fun now (granted starting at level 30 didn't hurt either). All in all the gameplay is really fun, especially some infiltrator options for close range combat. And omniblade kills are great. Other things I liked so far.
*Punching Al-Jiliani for a third time. To her credit though she managed to get out of the way of the first punch.
* The punchy pep talk with Vega.
*The fact that in the Mass Effect Universe people have decided to make toothbrushes that utilize mass effect fields.
*Joker planning to crank call the council.
*Javik's whole precursor smugness.
*The Mailslot achievement. Shooting through ten visor slots on shields is a great achievement.
Yeah, I've been loving it so far.
my old squadmates are dropping like flies, though ;-;
You get her as an asset if you don't :P
I love the way the galactic readiness system works, BTW.
I really don't like that it decays after a day of real life inactivity. I don't like having to schedule my life around video games.
That said it is fun punching that woman. I normally go straight Paragon for Fem!Shep, but sometimes the Renegade options are just to fun to ignore. When they aren't blatantly psychotic.
Whoa, it does? I haven't seen that happen...
That's what I can puzzle out from reading the game guide I snagged because I want the best ending. Granted it only decays at a rate of 1% per day and will never fall below 50%. And doing multiplayer missions can raise your readiness. Honestly I think it's kinda dumb and I don't really like that they added multiplayer that can affect the single player part of the game and worked in mechanics to encourage you to use it.
I don't mind multiplayer in single player games when it is some entirely optional side thing. But when the game itself encourages it, that irritates me. Because I wanted a single player game to play through the story, not to do FPS drek with idiots online.
As I understand it, you can get the best ending without touching it. But if you screw up, it's there to give you a second chance.
And I don't mind it being a cushion if you feel like going out to use it. I mind the GR decay rate that encourages you to either marathon the game or use the multiplayer.
Are you sure that's how it works? It started at 50% for me...
It started at 50 for me too.
And one match in multiplayer gives like 5% anyway, so it's not like it's a huge gamebreaker if you take a couple days off. I'm not really sure how to boost it in the single player, so I dunno if there's a limited amount of GR in the game. Which would suck if it does decay.
