People who refuse to enjoy something because everyone else keeps hyping it.
It bugs me that I know this is stupid, but I won't stop.

I try to avoid this whenever I can.
But in spite of that, I still haven't seen Cowboy Bebop yet.

I tend to enjoy a work more when I check it out based on my own interest. The interest may be inspired by someone else's positive account of it, but I still feel I made a conscious decision. Hype works against that as I feel like I see it just to understand what the fuss is about, not so much to enjoy it.

Hype Aversion is the stupidest thing ever.
I'd been hearing from one of my friends about for years about how totally awesome Black Lagoon is, because he was trying to get me into anime.
For a long time, I didn't watch it. Not because I was sick of hearing how awesome it was, but because I didn't think I would enjoy it, and because I was resistant to watching Anime at the time.
Then I eventually watched it, and I did really enjoy it It's one of my favorite shows now, and it would be stupid if I hadn't watched it because I heard how good it was. Or enjoyed it less for that reason.
It's just when people start not liking things specifically because they're popular, or have heard people hyping, that I get kind of irritated.
