The All-Purpose Gay Rights thread

This sure happened, won't last, but it happened.
Well, we know one thing that's gonna end up in SCOTUS's docket this coming year.
Okay, if the universe is trying to offset that Utah thing it's gone a bit too far in the other direction.
It is apparently completely okay to be openly gay in the DRC though, was not expecting that.

Crescent Hardy is a Republican member of the Nevada State Assembly. He is currently running against Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Hahaha he can't even come up with a coherent justification for his bigotry
I was at an LGBTQ+ center in town and I saw a thing celebrating allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Instead of making me smile and reminding me that there are those who fall outside of the community but support its rights and acceptance into society, it just filled me with negative feelings.
You know what it reminded me of instead?
People who try to be allies, but fail to do so in a polite and effective way, and self-proclaimed "allies" of the community who try to make the movement about allies instead of the community itself. Two kinds of people who have ruined the entire concept of an ally.
I now have the image in my head of an LGBTQ+ center filled with girlfags, SJWs and demi-romantics who ponder how they can save the people for whom the center was actually meant from their internalized homophobia.
In my experience, people who refer to themselves as "allies" are mainly interested in letting the world know how ~progressive and accepting~ they are.
Because most genuinely supportive straight/cis people just consider supporting the queer community as part of being a decent person.
So uh, Brunei passed a law allowing the death penalty for gay sex, and there's a call to boycott Dorchester Collection hotels for their connection to the Brunei government/Sultan.
Not sure what this means for people not rich enough to stay in those hotels anyway.

Bonus find: clear and blatant racism!
He must've been desperate to get folks to pick on someone else. Y'know, the redhead.
edit:
You know what, this is oddly familiar, except for the fact our own libertarians contradict themselves about women rather than gays foremostly.
More proof that political philosophy is a retroactive justification rather than a guiding motivation.
>libertarian
>as a nation
The gubbermint should stay the hell away from me, unless I can use that gubbermint to enforce my views on others. Can't wait for this guy to go Galt.

For what it's worth, this guy (attorney general J.B. van Hollen) is up for re-election in November, as are his Republican colleagues in the Wisconsin state government, including the infamous union-busting governor Scott Walker.
Is this supposed to go here? There's an interesting passage on how LGBT+ rights are co-opted by the security state industry: http://bullybloggers.wordpress.com/2014/07/05/you-are-triggering-me-the-neo-liberal-rhetoric-of-harm-danger-and-trauma/
That article is pretty thick with terminology (and just general overprosing for a blog) but I think I got it in the end.
So...
"Dear gay people, try to be born in the future when we can handle your existence."
I tried as hard as I could to be born when everyone is cool with me being gay and we have pink jetpacks, but my parents just weren't having it.
One of my friends is from the Southern US, MtF, and is trying to move here to California in hopes of getting away from her family and a part of the country where transgender acceptance doesn't exist. She had just recently successfully gotten her name and gender updated on her driver's license, and is struggling with her uni to have the name on her degree changed.
Also, seeing the names assigned at birth of my trans* friends is incredibly awkward, and it's somewhat inevitable at conventions where people walk around with their badges (which typically require showing one's legal name) on lanyards.
Random people in Texas are asked whether they would vote for a "known heterosexual". Apparently some people don't know what "heterosexual means.
And regarding that one guy whose face was bleeped out:
>get anonimized
>still give away enough info to identify yourself as Romeo Rose
>running for mayor in the liberal bastion of Austin
>incoherent racial purity bullshit while looking like a dysgenic mongrel
>probably Slav ancestry, considered to be inferior by his idol
That guy is either taking trolling to a 24/7 art form or is one of the most idiotic people on the planet(google his dating ads for a good chuckle).

also should I move this thread to the Politics category?
Probably.
Also that's really silly, in a bad "Who would want this kind of publicity?" way but it's still silly.
what even
Their lives may be short, but if they do manage to have that much sex, then by no means they are miserable.
