There is love everywhere, I already know

^^^^ I've actually seen him on the ANN forums, he just complains about every release ever and how much he's not going to buy it.

Are we allowed to talk about stuff like this?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

Are we allowed to talk about stuff like this?

It's kinda borderline. I'd say the conversation so far is allowable, but changing the subject might be a good idea.

  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

Well my 28th Birthday is coming up in September and my second wedding anniversary in October.

  • I'm a damn twisted person
    Any special plans?
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

For my birthday, my wife and I are going to DC to see the History of Video Games exhibit at the Smithsonian and for our anniversary we have no big plans yet.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

    Ooh, that's an awesome exhibit.

...wait, I'm in the DC area now...

...how long will it still be going?

  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

September 30. My birthday is the 17th. So good timing really.

    Has friends besides tanks now

Weeeeell, shit. I guess the work-study that I've been given an opening for is lifeguarding, after all. But Orientation Week has snapped me out of the depressive funk that I was in during the summer, so it might not be too terrible this time.

  • You can change. You can.
    Use Paypal?

Wouldn't that involve using Paypal which is supposed to be really bad according to people on the internet (You know, the kings and queens of understanding how the world works.)

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
If you have to use it, you have to use it. It just shouldn't be the first resort.
  • a little muffled

I have never had any problems with it.

  • I've never had any problems with PayPal.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
It's not the customers who have problems with Paypal. It's the sellers. Paypal's business model relies on trying not to give them their money.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

    How do they do that?

    I'm a damn twisted person

Probably some contractual bs like processing fees and having to jump through hoops to actually claim the money they are owed.

^There's a lot of that, but there's also "we saw some suspicious account activity (read: your account suddenly has a lot of money in it) so we're freezing your account." They did that when Minecraft took off and essentially stole .75 million dollars.

  • a little muffled

That sounds more like incompetence than malice to me, honestly.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

I would buy that if I could find anything saying that they'd ever given that money back. But as far as I can tell, they just kept it.

  • You can change. You can.

I just tried Payapl and it doesn't recognize my debit card either so...here we are.

Oh well, going to have to bring it up to the bank, I guess. Anyway, I hafta go to work. Peace.

  • a little muffled

@ClockworkUniverse: They eventually did give it back. They just weren't very nice about it.

I can certainly see why the whole thing would leave a bad taste in one's mouth.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Oh, okay. Good to know.

Still, I consider them a last resort.

  • Watching "Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo" on BBC1.

    I want to go back to Edinburgh ;_;
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

So, I dropped a history class because it had an annoying amount of work for another history course with an even bigger workload.

    welp

  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

Sometimes, you just have a drop a class. I dropped two while I was in college.

I have to admit, I like the classes I've had so far, but most of the people I've been hanging out with are in music programs, and they're too busy for me right now. :(

Also, I guess I have until tomorrow to decide how I'm going to handle the lifeguard work-study thing. And they need three references, which, while entirely understandable, vexes me because I actually didn't need to do much to get my lifeguard job in Maine. So I have to figure out some references. I'm really regretting adding lifeguarding as an "interest" for a work-study, and that I ended up suggesting that out of a sense of obligation.

  • I've dropped my Psychology class because the work on Dysfunctional Behaviour hit a sore patch

    Loser

    All Nines,

Having to do lifeguarding for work-study sounds rough. Do you think it could be possible to reapply or talk to/email someone in charge of work-study to try to get something else? I am guessing that if they have a bunch of different work-study jobs at your school, they would be kind of flexible with something like that.

As for the references, are they supposed to be former employers? If not, I think putting down some high school teachers who might think well of you could work.

I'll see what happens when I talk to the coach who's in charge of hiring lifeguards. Now that I think about it, there's a fair chance that I might not even get hours anyway, since I wasn't set up to work nearly as much as some people here (probably four hours a week, which, honestly, would be bearable work time as a lifeguard), but I'm going to be honest with him about why I quit three weeks before I would have been let go for school anyway, and I'll be honest about why I filled out my work-study form the way that I did. With any luck, he can  find some other thing for me to do. Plus, I can talk to him about the swim team here, with any luck.

^^ Ouch. That's understandable, though; hell, I'd imagine lots of people would feel awkward at some point or another in a psychology class.

In brighter news, I'm actually really liking my English homework. It's really bringing out my poetic and artsy side, and it's not busy work or anything (yet). It's a simple assignment, but it sort of works out for me.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Went to a bar in NYC for a fighting game fest. Had some fun and even won some rounds.

There was a hot Chun Li cosplayer that beat me down pretty thoroughly. I attempted to initiate flirtation with 'I love a woman who can kick my ass.'

She just gave this look and I slinked away.

Ask game designers to stop designing female characters to be so much about sex appeal, and female cosplayers might be more inclined to relish the attention.
