    ^^^It had some interesting idea that were destroyed by the head writer going batshit and pretty much pissing on all the rest of gainax so the original show was pretty bad.

    I've been enjoying Rebuild though. I also suspect the movie format prevents time wasting.

    But...but...Misato is awesome. And the trailer for Rebuild is Pirate!Asuka sniping in space. You can't beat that. 

    Also, Mari was kinda meh to me. She's cool, but she isn't as cool as Shinji in 2.0 to me.

    Also, Rebuild made me reappreciate the original series. I'd say you should try giving it a rewatch. You never know.

    My balls probably dropped about five inches from that ending. It's about 100x better in English, IMO. Didn't know Spike Spencer had it in him.

    Also, to be perfectly honest, I didn't feel that any character got developed in Rebuild beyond Shinji. Then again, Evangelion is indeed about Shinji, so whatever.

    So, related to this topic, today I cracked and, having plenty of birthday money to spend, bought both You Are (Not) Alone and You Can (Not) Advance. I'll probably watch them tomorrow. Let's see if the series remotely lives up to the hype.

    Honestly, the only character who genuinely suffered from Rebuild was Asuka whose going tsundere was kind of shoehorned in. Rei's motivations made complete sense, and Shinji manned the hell up which was nice.

    I just like Mari because it was good to see a character not defined by pathos that was fun to watch go into action.

    Also, she entertains me because she strikes me as unstable and I hope for some shenanigans in later films.

    Welp, if I ever decided to liveblog reviews and explain what's wrong behind them, I think I just found my target.

    To put it shortly as I'm out of time, it's all the appeal to emotion and abbrasiveness of the review + the lack of any arguments which make it weak.

    Watched You Are (Not) Alone just now. That was definitely something.

    Thoughts:

    1. I wish all anime could afford such stunning animation. The lasers were great.

    2. I can see how Shinji got his reputation. What a little piece of shit, seriously. I get what this series is supposed to be, but there's only so much of his hair-in-his-face bullshit that I can forgive.

    3. Gendo's a colossal asshole, and somehow I love him for it. What an over-the-top personality.

    4. Rei's fourteen? Oh, anime.

    5. You'd think all the technological jargon would be bullshit, but it actually sounds fitting.

    I might watch You Can(Not) Advance
    today. But I should finish Spice and Wolf volume four soon, and I need to make some D&D characters for Sunday.

    It amuses me how divisive Shinji is, really. 

    I actually like him, regrdless of Spencer's annoying voice. After all, he's just a teenage kid with all the problems that entails. 

    It always annoys me when shounen goes out of its way to forget this when it comes to their heroes, but I admit that's more of a me thing that a failure from shounen is. 

    Anyway, what were your thoughts on Misato? (Lol obvious fanboy)

    And Rei has to be 14. She's shinji's love interest. It'd be creepy if she was older. Well, creepier. As the whole point of her fanservice is to be, you know, creepy and cringeworthy.
