Considering the horror stories involving the show's ending I think there's some credence to the theory too.
But it's been more than half a decade since I've seen it so hush my mouth I guess.
So, I've watched six episodes of the original series so far, and I have a question: at what point does Rebuild actually begin to differ from the original anime? Is it right on the episode 7/Rebuild 2.22 mark? Because I'm pretty sure that 1.11 was a spot-on, if shortened, recreation of the first six episodes.
The first Rebuild sticks to the original series. The movie and series start following different paths right around the time Rebuild 2 starts and Asuka joins the cast.
Thought as much.
I saw the second film because it so happened to be on TV.
I want to see the rest of the whole shebang.
I think rebuild is pretty good, but there are things on it that bothered me, like how it downgraded Asuka to a typical tsundere. At least, I liked the whole "Trying to be mature, yet she's so childish" angle.
I wish I had thought to ask about the similarities before starting the original; if I had been sure that I had already watched a tolerably-animated, reasonably-paced version of the same thing five months ago, I would have skipped to episode 7.
I'd disagree, watching it like it was made would make more sense than watching the remake.
It's not just that, though. It also helps to getting used to the feel of the old series and as I recall, you've mentioned a dislike for old animu.
I pity those unbelievers, they shall never experience the faboulousness of Reinhard Von Lohengramm!
^^^ But I hate rewatching things, and I feel like I just rewatched the first Rebuild movie.
^^ I was trying to be tongue-in-cheek; NGE isn't too badly animated (and it was probably really good for its time, too). But I don't see how it matters which I view, except that the visuals are slightly different. Even then, the events are animated similarly enough that I would remember them similarly, if I saw one or the other and reflected on them at a later time.
^^ And, most importantly, the sheer GAR of Jin Kunugi.
^Fair enough. I did skip those episodes when I watched it with a friend mostly because we just had watched Rebuild and there really was no point to it, except for maybe a few nuances that will come up later in the end of the series, I guess.
No, it really wasn't.
Huh. Okay.
It wasn't particularly bad in terms of animation. At least from what I hear of people who actually watched it when it was released.
It wasn't bad, at first, then elevator scene and the the ending episodes.
