    Belief
But does this Troper Criticize tvtropes, or attacks tvtropes people?

    Ninja'd by INUH XD
  • And the thread was deleted.

Thank you Eddie, that was just great.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
This Troper attacks tropers. But I'm more worried about the Something Awful thread (which does criticize Tv Tropes with some legitimately good arguments), to be honest.

Annnd the thread's been deleted. I'm not surprised in the least.

  • Don't worry, someone will bring it up again because they had no idea about that thread, and you will have 15 minutes to state your case before that new thread is deleted, too.

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
And thus the cycle begins anew...

Well, at least I didn't banned over this.
  • I know Myrm, why don't you make a new thread that highlights the comparison about Fast Eddies behavior to the behavior of the Witch burners back in the Salem trials?
  • edited 2011-07-30 21:55:07
Should I be played by Daniel Day-Lewis when they make a movie?

^^ I'd say it's more like Stalin erasing people from photographs. It wouldn't be witch burning until people started getting banned.

There will be no glory in your sacrifice. I will erase even the memory
of This Troper from the histories! Every piece of criticism drafting shall be
burned. Every This Troper supporter, and every subscriber shall have their eyes
    pulled out
, and their tongues cut from their mouths. Why, uttering the
very name of This Troper, or CrazyGoggs, will be punishable by death! The world
will never know you existed at all!

The world will know that sane men stood against a tyrant, that few stood
against many, and before this battle was over, even a orwellian god can bleed.

  • They say that the best thing to do about This Troper is to ignore them,
but locking and deleting the page isn't ignoring them. It's yelling "I'M
    IGNORING YOU" in their faces.

What I was going to say. I reserve the rights to make the relevant IJBM.

Anyhow, my reason for opposing this is a bit different. it goes against the site's stated goal to categorize tropes, that some of these works are against the site and its users is just another obstacle to surpass, not ignore.

    Weird, I know.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
It got deleted not because it just mocked the site itself, but individual people.

But asking to understand this would probably be too much.
  • They're somethin' else.
The youtube comments reek of sour grapes.
  • We talked about this here.

I think the biggest problem was that This Troper almost entirely consisted of mocking named users, which made discussing or even linking to it really awkward given the site's policies regarding personal attacks and drama importation.

At the very least, that was the reason decided upon for keeping it on the PRLC.
  • To use a very extreme and only midly relevant example, Wikipedia has an Adolf Hitler page.

    So does TvTropes, though.

I think Wikipedia having images on it's pages that display things like removing part of the female genitals is much more extreme.
  • So did the Something Awful thread follow the drama?
  • You could see for yourself.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Considering he attacked a rather well-liked person on the forums (NOT TO BE INTRODUCING WHY OR HOW OR SUPPORT FOR EITHER SIDE, MIND YOU), of course the page was deleted.

But Lucky Revenant doesn't even care.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
^If that's the case (and all the others have been banned anyway). Why are people getting so defensive?
  • Mind you, it's still creepy and assholish for This Troper to do that.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Regardless, This Troper is a relative non-issue. I'd focus more on Something Awful.
  • Actually, I think the opposite. The readers of that thread are mostly goons who aren't allowed to come over to TvTropes and troll, and we have few tropers inside it. This Troper has more of a mass appeal.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
This Troper has more of a mass appeal.

That sounds like Hatred Myopia. From what I know, only a few youtube walkers, TV Tropes haters and Tropers even know that exists or take it seriously.
  • Maximum views for a video: 12,519

I've seen AMV's with far more views than that.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Yes, but Something Awful's criticisms ring truer than This Troper's.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Generally this Troper finds very embarassing quotes and lines, and reads them in deprecating manners. Something Awful do that as well, but from what I understand, they also brought up good points.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    Yes.
  • They might, but Fast Eddie and a good deal of the wiki have a tendency to go I'M NOT LISTENING LALALALALALA whenever criticism comes from the rest of the internet.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
The way I see it, TT bashes TV Tropes for dumb reasons. SA bashes TV Tropes for a large variety of reasons, some of which aren't dumb. Neither's really mainstream.

^If you can't describe a work without violating TV Tropes rules, it doesn't get a TV Tropes page. Simple as that.
  • Did you read the last few pages of the "Why was the This Troper page deleted"?
