"Please return it within twenty-eight days," she said.
Playing with him helped take her mind off things.
Jackie's first stop was her house, where she told her parents she was traveling with some friends. Since her dad taught her how to fight and fend for herself, he wasn't too concerned, though he made it clear that he didn't want her going anywhere near Team Rocket--no if's, and's, or but's about it. Jackie was smart enough not to tell him why she wanted to leave.
After grabbing her backpack, trainer equipment, toiletries, and dumbells, she went to the Pokemart, waving and nodding to Charles on the way (since he went first, I'm assuming he'd be done before she got there).
Once she bought two more Antidotes, an Awakening, and 3 days' worth of food and water, she went to the Pokecenter and asked where the Zigzagoon and Machop were in the recovery process.
Luckily, or so it seemed, there was an entry near the middle of the book. It spoke of a stone, a crystallized soul of a lost Pokemon. These Pokemon had the ability to live as humans. They were wise, and powerful, and very deadly.
The book does not have much information on the Pokemon, though. It mentions the Red Dragon and the Blue Dragon, but nothing else.
During this conversation, Mercer looks over Charlie and Snow once before floating behind Jackie and staring up at the sky.
"Hey!" Carrie jogged over, the Cubone easily keeping pace.
Charles then proceeded to buy five days worth of food and water, a tent, a book on edible plants, a potion, a pokeball, and two antidotes
"Well, I'm off to the meeting spot then. See you there, Jackie!" he said before running off with Snow
"...Oh. Yeah, it certainly looks that way." She pondered this new information, idly cleaning her glasses. "So if this stone is some kind of crystalized soul, and there's two of these dragons, do you think the second stone Brock was talking about is the other dragon soul? The one Misty has." She sighed. "It doesn't say anything about whether or not both stones need to be present for the... resurrection? Summoning? Whatever it really is."
She put her glasses back on. "I hope they do. Because even if we can prevent them from stealing the second stone, we'd be screwed if they had a legendary dragon on their side."

After finishing at the pokecenter, returning her father's Zigzagoon and giving a definite (but hopefully not final) goodbye, she met Carrie and Ray at the bench.
"Hey, guys. Whatcha reading? Oh, and Carrie, do you have a tent already?" (If not, you can safely assume I went back to buy one).
"And we're reading about the Enigma stone. It... doesn't sound good." She then proceeded to fill Jackie in on what they'd learned.
She nodded at Ray and grinned. "We've certainly got that part down."
"Girls in one, guys in the other makes the most sense, yeah."
He then took out a book. "I also got a book that lists some edible plants. We can scour the trail for some while walking to Mt Moon, and see if any edible mushrooms are in there"
"So, how has the Machop been behaving?" Jackie asked the nurse she talked to. "Assuming he's awake yet."
---
Jackie affected shock. "You're not really gonna charge me for that, are you?" Cue puppy-dog eyes.
He then looked down. "...I'm going to see if any wild Pokemon are around here. Even if we don't catch one, we might be able to convince one to help us out and lead us through Mt Moon. I heard that the place is a bit maze like"
