Dark Souls: Siegfried stops writing a journal like some bitchy teenager, the game is discussed.

So, the boxart for the PC version has been revealed...and it has the Games for Windows Live logo -_-
I thougt that had been discontinued due to its extreme crappiness...I hope it's not exclusive.
Naturally, there's already a petition for them to not do that.
Ended up cheap-killing the Steel Bull by an accidental discovery: I realized that, if I go towards the first shield zombie on the right, I have pillars to keep the bull from being able to hurt me. Later on, once I disposed of all the zombies in the area, it eventually came after me while I was there, and when it tried to walk away, it was next to one of those pillars and couldn't actually move, even though it was walking. That, combined with its not noticing me plinking away at it, allowed me to get the kill.
My character also looks really funny with the Fang Boar Helm. And I fat-roll now, which is sort of amusing.
Official screenshot of Artorias is out. I am so excited about this.
Holy shit. Artorias is a badass.
That armor had better be obtainable.
Also:
First image was captioned "Darklurker," second "Darklurker's crown."
And finally, another of Artorias. This one's older, but I only just saw it.
As someone who's been telling people that Sif's female for almost a year, I feel vindicated by the opening there.
Anyway, Artorias moves like a ninja in heavy armor and holding a greatsword. Badass.
.
Um...wrong thread?
bloop bloop nothing to see here
Just got to the knight thing that fires spirit arrows at me. I'm gonna see if that Knight's Shield I got before, which seemed less useful than my Heater Shield for the most part, might have higher Spirit resistance, or whatever it would be.
EDIT: Nope. Heavier, which tips me over my half-encumbrance limit, and doesn't affect my damage output at all.
...What?
Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about.
In the church (I think it's a church, or a cathedral?), right before I can exit to the Shrine via elevator, there's a dude at higher elevation who launches blue magic missile things at me. I noticed the staircase where I can go to fight him, but there are too many undead in my way.
Oh, the mage guy. He doesn't respawn.
What you want to do is lure the dead down the stairs to thin them out, then take him on. Don't bother with the Knight's shield; his attacks are easy to dodge once you have the dead cleared out.
Right. I suppose I would have figured that out after a few tries. Silly me. That's what I did with the annoying knight right before that.
Random bit of trivia: the Tower Knight is actually a boss from Demon's Souls, but scaled down to 1/10th its size or so and with the ranged attack removed.
Run into the room and knock the channeler off the ledge, jump down and kill him. Maybe die but it doesn't really matter since he doesn't respawn. This is important since he casts a spell that buffs all the enemies around him (i.e. those hollows) making them do like double damage.
Then you can kill all the hollows up there by running into the room then backing out into the hallway and killing them one by one. Spears are probably the best weapon for this, but pretty much anything works.
EDIT: triple ninjas
I found greatswords and pyromancy to be most effective, but he has neither, so that doesn't matter.
^^ Considering how far he was from the ledge by the time I actually got to him, I think I'll just lure the other enemies.
EDIT: Lured the others out, killed them with ease, then killed him (with the help of a jumping attack) . . . and then got slaughtered by his cronies. But what matters is that he's gone. Sure, I still have to fight Three Tower Knights at once, or something, but they'll be normal.
EDIT 2: Went back and killed them. Now to take care of the others again and see where that takes me.
EDIT 3: Found Lautrec.
It's pretty sad my cousins' PS3 hard drive crashed and erased everything I had archieved with my only character. On the other hand, incentive to play from scratch.
^^FYI, the next boss is weak to lightning, but you'd be better off saving the gold resin for the Capra Demon, which is just a bitch to fight thanks to the tiny arena.
So I just had a thought for a build, soul level 120.
This character has equipped:
And the one spell?
This build is pretty much a one-trick pony. You start up your Homing Soulmass and simply charge the enemy. You take the initiative this way, since they have to react to an assault on two fronts; the magical blasts coming at them and your following assault -- essentially, it's the same concept as throwing a grenade and keeping up your gunfire in a FPS (or, well, real life). At this point, the Black Knight Sword is dealing over 500 damage. And if you fuck up the assault? Not necessarily a big issue, since you'll have 1800 HP, 192 stamina and 92 poise, making you a wall of resilience on top of dealing great damage in a two-phase assault.
On the downside, this build has poor resistances against non-standard damage. That said, it potentially counters Wrath of God abusers, backstabbers and all other manner of griefers. Those guys tend to be veterans anyway, and many will use low-poise builds, which Homing Soulmass will stunlock neatly.
Not that I've tried this build, mind. Purely theoretical.
You'd be better off with a Man-Serpent Greatsword +15. Base damage is lower, but scaling is at A, so by the time you have the strength to wield it, it does more damage.
Nope, it takes me over 50% equip load capacity and therefore gives me fatroll, reduces my speed and my stamina regeneration. The damage boost is only something like 20, which isn't worth those reductions when damage is 500+ anyway.
Ah, I wasn't accounting for how heavy your gear is...
Wait, just 20? That can't be right. That's the damage boost I was getting from +5 BKS to +15 MSS when my STR was 24...
Lower dex to 18, raise vit to 56, switch class to Warrior. More health at the same SL and only negligibly less damage.
Otherwise I dunno.
^ It really is only like 20 points difference, which doesn't really make up for the ridiculous weight. And possibly the different moveset, though I haven't used the Black Knight Sword so I don't know what its moves are like.
Gargoyle time!
I suppose I'll try to get that flask upgrade first.
Have you upgraded your weapon(s)?
Nope. Still dunno how to do that or who to find to do that for me.
