  • You can change. You can.
Does that video actual relate to the topic, or are you just being a douche again?

If Noimporta's a douche, then I should be banned.

    Just sayin'
  • Mostly I remember the time Vorpy called me a hydra that could jump out at any time, Spain treating the place like a treehouse and/or chance to blatantly complain about his grudges without consequence, and a variety of inane debates.

Guess I'm a bit on the periphery.

I remember when a lot of us wanted the site to be more independent and thus came up with a whole pack o'hare-brained schemes to try to make us stand out more.

In the end, we haven't changed much.

  • I remember when it was heavier on the shitposting and sex talk.
  • Huh, there was more sex talk?

    ...Huh.
  • Well it and shitposting seemed to be to the exclusion of everything else.

It was like that for the first few months.
  • There were orgys every hour on the hour, eventually cops had to pull the plug due to the underaged users like Juan Carlos whose mind broke when he went down on another man for the last time!
  • Aw man, I missed that kind of party? :(

    keep dreaming, kiddo.
  • I've been here for the beginning. I'm the OP of two of the stickied threads.

The old times, if you can call them that this early, were fun, but I think the forum improved since then. I think it started going downhill around late spring/early summer, though.

I liked having Bobby G on the site. Of course, since I'm a petty dick I now like him slightly less since he converted back to Christianity.
  • Clean your room little Billy
^ Truly? Did he specify any denomination?
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
I miss when Nyar was always cynical and always viewing things with
    pessimisitic views.

In other words, I miss when Nyar was being a
    German.

Without Vorpy around, to make fun of me because of that, it's just not the same.
  • ^^I just remember him saying something about rediscovering his faith.

It's kinda hard for me to see something like that as something more respectable than cowardice.
  • Bobby's always struggled a lot with his faith; I can only see embracing it even after that as courageous.
  • In what way?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Although I've recently abandoned religion, I have nothing against those who are idealistic enough to embrace it.
  • You can change. You can.
^Take the recently out and that's my post.
  • From my perspective it isn't about being idealistic, but about having holes in your reasoning. If someone goes back to religion, they either never properly established for themselves in the first place why you shouldn't bother to take stock in it, or decide something along the lines of emotional comfort being more important than a firmer grip on reality.

I realize how arrogant this sounds, but I guess I don't really have a reason to hide what I think.
  • You can change. You can.
That implies that the non-existence of a God is a firmer grip on reality. I may be an atheist, but I'm also an agnostic and I recognize that unless you have exact and unequivocal evidence that God doesn't exist, then that statement doesn't hold any single weight of truth.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Personally, while I don't consider it impossible for a god or gods to exist, I do consider it impossible for it or them to be something worth respecting.
  • The lack of evidence for a god is part of our reality. Believing in something there is a lack of substantial evidence for doesn't scream firm grip on reality to me.

I'll concede that there's no way to know 100% a god does not exist, but that's not what I was getting at.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Personally, given the nature of human existence, I'd consider the existence of a god more disturbing than a lack of one.
  • It's not that difficult to imagine a god that is powerless to prevent human suffering.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Yeah, but...if I'd even consider that a god, rather than an advanced life-form, I wouldn't see a reason to worship it or anything if it can't even manage that.
  • I miss the early days too... Because I wasn't here.

There is hardly against the existence of a God, if you sit to think about it. Unless you think of that lack of evidence as evidence, and honestly, even then, that's still a pretty lousy argument, considering the attributes to that are given to God.

I'm not saying that believing or not believing is the right way of living or perceiving reality, mind. I believe that when it really matters and when it comes to religion, it really comes to what you prefer and what syncs up with your beliefs and philosophy. Nothing more, nothing else.

    Agnostic Existencialist over here
  • What evidence for a god is there that there isn't for the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Why would you consider someone with a sincere belief in the FSM to have a respectable philosophy?

Because as long as they're happy and they're leading productive lives, I don't give a flying fuck what they believe in, cause I have no right to criticize them for it.

If someone has a sincere belief in FSM, as long as their a good person, I see no reason to question their belief system.
