rather than actually adding to them in many ways.

Their rosy view of relationships annoys me.

  • That kind of relationship comes off as parasitism to me.
  • Relationships are hard.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
    SO ARE CAREERS!

    ^^Yes. Yes, they are.

I haven't been really looking for a relationship, partially out of being a hermit, partially because getting employed takes priority, and partially because I'm not over the last trainwreck.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
    SO ARE CAREERS!
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
People who think/suggest this usually mean sex, not actual relationships.

Of course, that open's up its own can of worms.
  • Being an adult and getting relationships.

    It's hard and nobody understands.
  • Having a relationship can offer temporary relief to problems, but yeah.

IJBM: When people keep using "relationships are hard and annoying" as a reason for why I shoule not pursue one.
  • Having a relationship is like having a partner.

If you're not willing to invest the time, they're just gonna end up leaving you for someone else.

Likewise, if you show them that you're serious about it, you're likely to find that some of the benefits outweigh the costs.
  • I read myself in Michael Weston's Voice >_<
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Consider that my problems are largely self-esteem related, knowing that I'm not completely incapable of starting a relationship wouldn't hurt.

^^^^No one's saying you shouldn't pursue them. Just don't assume your life will magically be better for it.

^You're not. No human being is so broken as to be unlovable.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
One of the things I've learned is that it works much better when the both of you are in it for the same reasons. That'll mean that there's a higher likelihood of the two having the same "objective", or a similar one.

I've never said that. I want a relationship for the things it does give.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^^I'm aware of that from a logical perspective. Some evidence, though, would likely do wonders.
  • I want a relationship too, but Alex is like "Lol no"

Okay, but then you're not who I'm complaining about, nor am I trying to discourage you from having a relationship. I mean, I'd like a nice lady friend myself but I hold no illusions about the fact that she'll probably be terribly unbalanced leading to lots of drama.

^^Alright, alright. If it will set your mind at ease I'll make out with you.

Like I keep telling people, I would switch places with a guy that has a lot of relationships.
  • You can change. You can.

I wouldn't. Ex girlfriends bring even more baggage. Especially the ones who then think it fair game to spread rumors about you having STDs.

    Fun times...

    ^Puh-retty much.
  • Malk has STDs :<

Ewww, It's a good thing he gave up on me.

Being lonely in an environment where NO ONE is lonely sucks too, trust me...

Solitude does have its benefits, however.

Honestly, of people in and out of lots of relationships I often wonder about their mental and emotional health that they have to be in one.

    Having relations has benefits too.

Yes, but they're not superior just because.

They can be if with the right person, but one shouldn't seek out a relationship for the sake of having a relationship.
  • It's like when one seeks out a puppy to have a puppy.

But then that puppy dies of Euthanasia.

It's just whatever you want, nothing superior. I would prefer relationships, real offline ones, to this, is all.
  • But what if she dies to euthanasia.
