    >You head down. It costs 200 coins to stay the night, including a meal. Judging from average prices, it seems that weapons, cards, and spell casting are highly valued in this society

    >...Considering that there are things such as marauding bands of birds, it's no surprise, really

    >Your attempts at finding more advanced spells are for naught. Apparently the spell stores see to that
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    >Fine. Read about the weird triangle sword thing.

    >The closest you can find about ancient swords is something about an Illusionary Blade. It is said to be able to absorb magic and spew it back out - Which you already saw. There are conflicting legends about it. Which do you want to read first, if any?

    -The Sword of Magic
    -The Metal of the Mad
    -The Blade Forged Between Realms
    -The Forbidden Sword
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    >The Metal of the Mad.
  • No rainbow star
    >This legend is less about the sword than what it is made of, but still will impart valuable knowledge.

"Once, long ago, when Order and Chaos fought, a large jewel existed. Older than existence itself, it shattered when the laws that govern Reality were written, and spread around. Among the ones to get it were the deities of Space and Time. They, immune to the metal, forged it into tools - A watch that could manipulate time and a compass that could manipulate space. Another one that recieved the metal was Order, who, when Chaos fled, forged it into the Harp of Reality, in which she sealed some of her power.

"However, many others got the metal and, not as resilient, begun to go mad. In this state, a group of people made weapons and armour that could kill the gods themselves. Concerned, the gracious Crmirnauc attacked them when they were distracted, and banished the weapons to the space between realities"

    >So theory one is that it is a god killing sword that will turn you into a lunatic who will then have to be put down. How... Comforting
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    >The Sword of Magic.

    >This legend seems to involve the sword's use more than the origin.

"Long ago there was a magic sword. Made of special metal, it could absorb any magic, provided that the one who weilded it had balance as a virtue. This legendary blade could absorb any spell, even those made by the gods themselves, and send it right back at them! However, to prove one's balance, they had to be tested.

"This test was long and grueling, involving many challenges. However, one hero proved himself, slowly able to use the magic absorbing powers more and more, until they defeated the evil god Hadesonil, saving Diamos from destruction. Pleased with the hero's deeds, the other gods ascended him, sword and all."

    >Theory two implies that you fell asleep playing a Zelda game that features the Master Sword again
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    >The Blade Forged Between Realms and The Forbidden Sword.
  • No rainbow star
    >'The Blade Forged Between Realms' seems to invole the sword's origin more than its use.

"Once a blade was created in the fabric between realities, the legendary Illusionary Blade. This remarkable sword was untouchable by the gods, for it was created in the realm that lies between dimensions, where no deity ruled. It was forged over a span of 7 winters so that the luck of the universe might make the blade more lucky back in Diamos. Created to face the gods themselves and usurl their rule, it was eventually stolen away, never to be seen again"

    > Theory three implies that there was a group that didn't like the gods very much. Some other stories connected to it include the Machines of Heaven, which could be an interesting read

    >'The Forbidden Sword' seems to be calling the blade cursed, and touches on four other swords.

"Five blades of evil were created in the past. The Shadow Sword, a basilisk's soul trapped in a wicked blade that thirsted for the blood of the innocent. The Hellish Blade, a blade that devoured the souls of its victims to fuel its dark magic. The Demon's Sabre, a foul piece of work forged to allow the user to go between light and shadow, invisible until it was too late. The Angel's Bane, an awful creation meant to kill all that was good with the world.

"And most foul of all, the Illusionary Blade, a sword created to kill the glorious Gods themselves and to usurp their righteous reign. At least a curse was placed on them, the owner's soul to be eaten away until Alphight would take notice and put the poor sap out of their misery"

    >...So theory four implies that you should get rid of it. Now

    >The last two tales seem to have been written by opposing factions

    >They are all very expensive, thousands of coins each for spell books that aren't basic

    >There is also a bestiary available to identify the various creatures in the land. It comes with instructions on how to do an identification spell that will open the book to the correct page, a guide on cards, and a mythology book that seems to cover similar material as was in the library
