I care about the things people are talking about in those threads.

And, we're talking about this site here, not that one. :\
  • I wanted to talk about that site.

Also you never PM'ed me back over there.

    ^Why?

I don't like the place that much either. I'm there because my friends are.

The RP section is bitchin' though.
  • I do from time to time. I replied about an hour ago.

Because it's related to IJBM since IJBM came from there, and Yack Fest seems to have more meat and users there than here. We need to bring over more people.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
    Ah.

I've suggested getting people from other sites. But the only sites I'm a regular user on besides this one and TVTropes are Unexplained Mysteries and FreeMusicArchive. Neither of which have a large, interested userbase.
  • Also, bye Nyarly.

    Have fun being weaksauce. :P
  • This place is slow.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Usually. But when it's not, it's absurdly fast.
  • Maybe I should just stick with OTC.
  • No Gelzo, you hipster.
  • I never said it was a sure thing.
  • Lately, the Trash Heap tends to be a mix of random conversation between a few "regular" posters (myself included) and wonderposting. It tends to be the "wonderpost until somebody's wonderpost inspires a short conversation" thread.

It's just not for everyone, I guess. *shrugs*
  • While I enjoy this place, it isn't quite as fun or compelling as the old IJBM. A lack of drama is a part of that. It's like a story without conflict. It might be fun to read and reply, but won't keep me glued to the seat refreshing endlessly for new replies. We haven't had any trolls, huge drama bombs or even people with opinions that differ seriously from our norm.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
    I could try trolling.

I mean, I'm good at culture jamming, and they're kinda the same thing....

    :B
  • I use this place as a haven/harem.

I use TV Tropes as a battleground.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
    DUH NUH NUN NUUUH NUUUUUUH.

    Why'd I just do that?
  • This noise played in my head when you did that.

  • I don't see much difference between here and the first IJBM.
  • Hmm?

    *is huggled*

    Likes cheesecake unironically.
    Know what? Fuck this.

It's like at the beginning of IJBM 2. I predicted that there is not future in this forum (which actually fares better than I initially expected). Still, I couldn't stay away and made an account. Yesterday, I gave up upon the problems (which simply amount to "it's not the original IJBM") and now I'm here again. It's like strange kind of addiction. Even though I'm rarely here, I still can't part.

So, here I am one day after I left. Not even a whole day, just many hours.

Pathetic? Maybe. Spineless? Most likely. Do I care? No.

Of course, this doesn't let the bad points instantly vanish. But it's not like IJBM is without good points (although now that I read it again, my last post highly implies this... Holy crap, what the fuck did I write?). But well, as I said I rarely visit it and rarely post something. I did fine that way until now and think I'll do so in the future (although I could visit a bit more...). Posting when I think there is something post-worthy. No big frustrations that IJBM 2 isn't IJBM 1 (which, admittedly, isn't an entirely bad thing...). I hold the old IJBM close to my heart (apart from the shitstorm at the very end) and accept the new one as it is.

...The last part sounded kind of overly dramatic. Again.

Well, at least this whole mess gave me an excuse to use a new avatar. Which is me in Create.swf. Yes, I look that stupid.
  • Admittedly, the entire deal was overly dramatic, but given tropers' history of being unable to stay away from troper forums, I find this to be as expected as a semicolon.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Yeah, leaving a forum isn't actually as easy as it sounds. Welcome back.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
There is not as much commenting on the wonderposting here as I had expected.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
It's mostly earlier on. Threads here derail a lot.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
As would be expected of IJBM.

That  said, let's see if we can't think of anything to do about it, short of active moderation?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I think just saying "please do it less, except in the Wonderful Posts category" seems to have improved things somewhat.
  • Nyarly is totally tsundere for IJBM.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Indeed. I can't see too much of it in recent posts, at least.

It remains to be seen how long this will last, however.

Well, I'm offering my help if it's needed, anyway.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Thanks.

You know, on the plus side for the forum's quality, I have yet to need my mod powers beyond giving the Kino thread dirty looks.
