  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Actually, that's probably worse. Nobody's harmed by people believing in abiogenesis.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
What if god told me to kill all those prostitutes /facetious
  • INUH: Wait, from WIKIPEDIA!, it seems that abiogenesis is a commonly accepted in the scientific coommunity.

  • For another fun note, I got to watch this video and then rebut the side of the Evolutionist.

Because that is an "unbiased" way of learning!

^^Er, I meant to say by whether or not people believe in abiogenesis. My mistake.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
With that video notice the apple next to the creationist girl.
    Subliminal apple based meddling?
Or implying that creationism is the downfall of man?
  • Not to mention the use of an older woman to discuss Creationism, as well as the immature tone of the girl discussing Evolution, of course, that observation could just be me.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    ^That too.

Also the one on the right is hotter.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Now, if I had the time and energy to dedicate to doing this, I would transcribe the video into a text document, then present the video to one group and the text to another, then ask them about their reactions. I'm curious about the results.
  • "Obviously, we evolved from the ape because of OPPOSABLE THUMBBBS"

I have never laughed as hard at narmful delivery that was intended to be serious.
  • I could dissect the video and create a report on what it got wrong, but I want to play terraria tonight.
  • I just consider it "Not Even Wrong".

Plus, there's so much more to be dissected that the video just seems like small potatoes.

    Text transcribed.

That was the easy part :P
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
    That's why I did it! :D
  • I love how the Creationist puts forth absolutely zero worthwhile arguments.
  • Chagen, I'm supposed to support her argument.

I actually had to rebut the other lady's argument.

    THIS IS MY EDUCATION.

    [/rage]

If you have this much of a problem with it, Miles, maybe you should take this up with your parents?
  • I've tried, actually.

The reason my father put me in this school in the first place was so he could have control over my education. To him, he's paying money for it, therefore, any problem I express with it just means that I'm trying to get out of working.

    He's...quite annoying.
  • $80+ per session
Not really much argument you can make for Creationism besides faith.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
Try explaining that you simply don't think the curriculum is doing you any good, and you'd happily work just as hard at a different school.

Unless they're pulling the "we know you better than you know yourself" card, in which case, there's no real way to convince them.
  • Oh, no, they don't even play that card. They say that it's the best education that I'm going to get. "We payed the money this long, it's too late to do that now"

...Again, my parents, my father especially, are idiots.

...yeah, see, if you're going to convince your parents of anything, you're going to have to stop thinking of them that way.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Do your parents let you go out, such as going the to library?
  • I actually didn't, until very recently...it's a long and complicated story.

To simply give you an example, I have emotional and mental issues (undiagnosed due to the fact that they won't take me to see a therapist, instead, they buy St. John's Wort.) My medicine (aforementioned Wort) was empty and needed refilling. My father said that we didn't have the money for this and that I'd have to go without for a few weeks.

    This is reasonable.

It continued to be reasonable until my father came home the next day with a 350$ Android tablet.

This means that either he lied to me about being able to get my meds, or that he knew we didn't have enough money and did it anyway. Either one is bad.

Forgive me, if my opinion towards my parents comes off as rude or dickish. I don't mean for it to. If anything, I'm just expressing my frustration towards their actions. Also, sorry about the TL;DR.
  • @Vacasama, only when it is absolutely required for school, or when my little sister wants a book.
  • That's terrible. Are you going to confront him about it?
  • Confrontation with him leads to pointless arguing, as he doesn't really care about anything I have to say.

He's...one of those types that believes that because he's the parent, he can do whatever he wants regardless of what anyone else in the house thinks, or how anyone else feels about it.

Sounds like child services could use a call.
  • Yeah, there's lying and then there's plain neglect.
