People who Torrent/Pirate abusively

  • Well in that case there's not much of a reason to spend $60 on it since I know from experience that it isn't worth that much.
  • I'm just saying don't pirate a great game people worked hard to make.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
The only thing I have ever pirated in my entire life is The King of Limbo. DON'T ASK.

It barely counts anyway, considering the fact that it's mostly plagiarized already.
  • Actually, despite what I've been saying in this thread, I don't pirate games much except when they're old and out of print.  Though that has more to do with the fact that I don't play games a lot.  I do pirate lots of anime and occasionally music though.  I pay for it later if it's good enough though.

Oh, but I did pirate Oblivion and Fallout 3, though that was more a case of not wanting to spend like $100 for each game since I'd already bought each of them for the 360 and wanted to be able to play them on my computer.

I pirated minecraft to try it out, and then bought it so I could have my own name (what the fuck kind of name is Scruffy_Puppy?)

and I pirated a lot of full versions of software to avert getting ripped off for something that is relatively no more useful than the shareware version (Yeah, LimeWire Pro, you are SOOOO much better than LimeWire even though you do exactly the same shit and still don't get rid of the bullshit bot files).

    LimeWire?

    ...isn't pirating that kinda...apt?

    Just use µTorrent, seriously.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I do now that LimeWire is shit.

Although you can't download individual songs at whim unless you use a site to find those individual songs.

What is LimeWire useful for anyway?

It used to be useful only for downloading individual songs.  Now it's just clogged with fake files anyway.  You can type in 'cheese breadbutter fusion da gamba leafeater' and get 'cheese breadbutter fusion da gamba leafeater.mp3' as a fake file result.

At least, that was the case the last time I used FrostWire.
  • Well, I guess LimeWire also supports the Gnutella network, and µTorrent doesn't, so you'd have to use another program for that.  Though, it's not like it matters, since nearly everything is available via BitTorrent anyway.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I liked the ability to just double click a song I knew wasn't fake and get it directly into my music playlist in a few seconds.
  • Yeah, that sounds nice.  Still, it doesn't take that much longer to find a torrent of the album a song is from, and then you can just choose to only download the song(s) you want.

Unless the uploader is stupid and put everything in a .zip file or something, which I've seen before and why would you do that...?
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Because people who download things illegally are short on space.

Also, I only know of Isohunt and ThePirateBay for downloading torrent music. And most of the time there are no seeders, ever.

For Limewire, if you could see it, most likely you could download it. No worrying about making sure you were online 24/7 to make sure you caught the seeder and get your torrent finished, which was the first reason I hated torrenting for awhile.
  • Yeah, as far as I know there isn't anything like bakabt except for music instead of anime (I say this because bakabt always has seeders for all of its torrents, and it's a public tracker).  Which would be cool.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
    ...I should start one

I should find one. There's gotta be one out there.
  • Yeah, I'd be surprised if there wasn't.

Then again, music companies are a lot more likely to sue or send C&D's than anime companies (except Funimation), so maybe that would discourage people from making a site like that.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
They would have to find the site first. Since LimeWire was so OUT THERE it was easy to find and target, but something that was a bit of a nichey site would generally be harder to find, since of course, we haven't found it yet.
  • Can someone tell me the difference between uTorrent and BitTorrent?
  • Same as Microsoft Word and Open Office.
  • ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
    I just torrented minecraft.

50$ says my computer won't run it, but oh well.

Don't run it yet. Where did you get it?

Too late. I ran it and:

          Bad video card drivers!

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

Stupid S3 ProSavage Video card and your monopoly over budget computers. I knew it wouldn't work. At least Starcraft runs...

    In any case, all yours.

I wonder what other super popular games I should try to molest. Team fortress 2 has a huge fandom which permeates everything, so it might be worth a shot.

Then again, if I couldn't support minecraft then I have no reason to assume TF2 would ever run in a million billion years. Everything about our computer is outdated - it's around a decade old.

Or perhaps I'd have more luck with mass effect...

For what it's worth, Funimation is rapidly gaining market share in the U.S. animé industry, and FWIW, everything that it touches is off limits to bbt.

    @TheConductor:  No.

Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.org are completely different programs.  They're similar in functionality, but they aren't the same at all.

BitTorrent (the BitTorrent client) is just a rebranded version of µTorrent.

    No rainbow star
Infdev! Must download! I missed early Alpha and earlier, and there are some infdev exclusive bugs I want to try...

And I plan to pirate Portal 2 just to see if my crap laptop can run it. If yes, then I'm buying it asap
  • I only pirate things that I have no realistic way of buying.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
    Like women?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
OH SNAwait that makes sense. That would be slavery, which is illegal.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Well it's better to steal a woman than it is to purchase her.
  • a little muffled
@glennmagusharvey: Well, lots of things are still not licensed.
