Because you never know what you might see.
I, for one, like Vandro because he's funny and because it was pretty obvious he was just fond of hyperbole and not actually meaning to cause offence, for the most part.

I don't know how to measure how much the mods were annoyed by a given troper, but I was not under the impression that Vandro was considered a serious annoyance by the majority of the mods.
  • Vorpy:Except in this case, quite a few users did like me, and I was banned for a completely innocuous thing after I fucking apologized for doing it.

The Touhou thread is a bunch of thin-skinned prudish cunts.
  • It's Touhou, what did you expect no offense. Speaking of which, when do you want to prepare for your appeal? That is, if you want to.
  • In a few weeks. I need to give the mods time to cool down, wait till there hasn't been a banboy so they're complacent and give them a sad soliloquy about the horribleness of my life and why I can no longer live on wait, that's not part of the plan....
  • That Touhou picture wasn't why you were banned. Remember?
  • It was. It was supposedly "the last straw". Had I not linked it, I would not have been banned. Fighteer explicitly said that it was the thing that got me banned.
  • Because you never know what you might see.
Chagen, fine, I shall be frank: there is a difference between actively pissing off large numbers of people and being liked by many others, and actively pissing off relatively few people and being liked by many others.
  • "the last straw"

That... Is pretty much a foundation for my arguament, not yours.

Chagen, I have seen more thumped posts from you than any other person on this entire fucking forum. I have seen more people seethe about how annoying you are than anyone else. In the #yackfest IRC channel, you are a topic that people will not stop talking about. You keep on doing all of this stupid, annoying, questionable, whiny shit that annoys the mods that somedays they probably do wish you would do something to get banned. And you did. You have excuses IRL to explain your issues, but it seems like TV Tropes is more  of a problem combustor than solver in your case, since you never learn from your mistakes, solve your own problems, or get any self-control about it.
  • Some people are expected to hate me, but I never saw anyone get malicious.

Also, when everyone found out, I think 90% of the people commenting on it thought it was unfair (Including Nyarly, who I've never even talked to!).
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Thats the way it was Chagy. Nobody was happy to see you banned because of how much they forshadowed it to begin with. Most people would go "Finally!" when someone they hated was banned, but you stuck around so much and developed such an active hatedom and theorydom that people eventually realized that the realism of you getting banned was a lot less relaxing than it intended to be.

Ever see that one celebrity you hated above all others go through tons of shit and try to improve his image and change his repulsive behaviors, just to end up being killed in the end?

    It's like that.

    OK look

People liking you is not up for dispute. We're talking about the people who hate you. Which is like, everyone else. Including people who are too polite and actually sane to turn into seething lunatics whenever you appear and just put up with you.

Because you never know what you might see.
Never saw anyone get malicious?  Chagen, the reason I cut you as much slack as I did was because half the time it seemed like people were actively antagonising you.

And Vorpy, that's not entirely true; Chagen did improve a lot since he first signed up.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
"but I never saw anyone get malicious."

    ...

What, seriously? I've seen more flamewars over you than over religion. No offense; I've never had anything against you, but seriously. Threads sometimes degenerated into zap-worthy flaming just because you showed up.
  • It has stopped though.

Fuck, I might as well kill myself now. And I'm serious this time.

Hey Chagen, Shut your fucking mouth.

Stop announcing yourself threatening your life out of despair. It's annoying as fuck, and it's something people like ME are supposed to do, not you.

Because you never know what you might see.
I presume a "DO IT FAGGOT" would get me banned?

MOD EDIT: Since you have to ask, yes. ~GMH

Chagen, please don't be melodramatic.  It's just a forum.
  • It was more than a forum to me.

It was the only fucking reason I continued to live my worthless pain-filled existence.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
"(Sorry if this post contains too many letters and you get confused)"

    Such excellent argument skills.

@Chagen:Seriously, just no. Cut the suicide threats out.
  • This is exactly why you're such a barrier to talk to. How do you expect to get unbanned if you keep hiding in your shell, ignoring arguaments against you as if it's people genuinely hating you and.or wanting you to die, and acting like everything's about you all the time?
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
No it is not. Stop lying to yourself. You may be able to lie to yourself better than I can lie to myself, but that doesn't allow you to submit to internet addicted illusions so easily. It's just addiction. It is not something you can't live without.
  • It's true, Chagen. And talking about suicide has only worsened it all.

Chagen: Perhaps this helpful tip is in order:

You shouldn't be relying on people on the internet to validate you, to boost your self-esteem.

That seems to be part of the problem here.  You feel down because other people aren't supportive of you.

    Khwariz: I edited your post.

Because you never know what you might see.
    I figured.

But seriously, suicide threats over a forum?  I'm not buying it.  It just seems passive aggressive to me.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Perhaps I should also explain something else:

I have never liked the excessive piling-on about Chagen.  There's been at least once on IRC where I saw people talking about how Chagen is an idiot and stuff, went off to do something else, and half an hour later still saw people talking about how Chagen is an idiot and stuff.  And my response: Shut the fuck up already, seriously.

That said, if I were to walk out into the streets of Manhattan, say, wearing nothing but a Speedo brief, just because I feel like it (and not for any reason relating to how other people will react to me), I'm quite sure that people would notice me, and not in a good way.

This, I think, similar to the situation at hand--behaviors that you're displaying are turning heads, and not in a good way.  And just because people are sympathetic to you, Chagen--and many of us are, and many of us have felt that you've become a better person since joining TV Tropes--doesn't mean that we particularly like your habits.

Don't you have, say, that uncle who's totally cool but whose house smells like crap, or that one friend with the annoying tendency to grab the snacks before you get to them?  It's entirely possible to like and care about someone but not like one or more of their habits.
  • Because you never know what you might see.
    >And just because people are sympathetic to you, Chagen--and many of us are, and many of us have felt that you've become a better person since joining TV Tropes--doesn't mean that we particularly like your habits.

    This, a thousand times.

Make no mistake, I think the ban was regrettable, and I don't dislike you as a person, Chagen.  But you continue to act in a way that comes across as whiny and pointlessly antagonistic, and it tries people's patience.  That's what happened to you on TV Tropes.
  • I think Chagen is an attention whore and that his behavior will not improve so long as we keep responding to it in any way whatsoever.

I'd like to apologise for helping stir up shit just then. I really wanted to say something useful, like most of us did but I failed. I'll have one more try but then I'll quit.

Firstly, I don't want to hate people, and I don't even hate Chagen, he was just getting on my nerves (or should I say "you were", sorry, I'm talking about you like you're not here) for, first off, comparing yourself to Vandro, even though your ban reasons were completely different, and when this was brought to your attention, you continued to talk about how there were people who liked you, while simultaneously calling the people in the Touhou thread "prudish cunts", a group of people I might add, that you belong to.

If you wonder why people don't like you, look over that very post. It's aggressive, self-centered. If you don't show respect why do you expect it back so much?

I want that to be all I have to say but there's a couple other things too, like how I mentioned you were creating a barrier, which you were, by threatening to kill yourself. If you did indeed kill yourself, Fast Eddie and everyone who posted in this thread wouldn't deserve the blame. But they'd probably take it anyway. If you feel like you're losing a debate, or people are bullying you, speak your mind as clearly as possible. Let people actually know what you think, get your thoughts out of your head to the page with minimal distortion. Rather than threatening to commit suicide, explain why you feel that way, it puts you on the same page, and is much more likely to get you sympathy. Because it shows you're willing to listen back.

Sorry for this stupid long post, but I wanted to address exactly what went wrong back there, rather than just slamming my head against the keyboard and watching the mistakes from history go unlearned again.
