Yeah, you can really tell when Doug phones it in. One example might be the NC reviews of the Conan movies, where he doesn't really offer much criticism and just sort of does Arnie impersonations. With a lot of his reviews, he gives at least a decent indication of why something is good or bad, or at least why he enjoys or dislikes it. But you can see him growing tired of it and beginning to treat it like a job, and ergo you get the eventual repetition rather than the sincere desire to entertain.
I've enjoyed a fair few of the Nostalgia Critic reviews, but I'm not exactly sad to see it go. He did the schtick and it was pretty good. Now he's moving on and will hopefully apply his creativity in other ways, which I can only see as a good thing.
So I just used Wikipedia to figure out how to spell my grandmother's name. #2012
So, in studying for a paper I have to write, I learned where ClockworkUniverse got his name from.
^^^^ Amen.
^^^ My last name appears twice on Wikipedia; a variation on it used by distant relatives appears once.
I like having a rare name. It's fun.
Who is your grandmother?
A professional gardener who has written a bunch of books about plants and shit.
A small question. Can anybody else use this link? http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/~~143.195.202.43:80/lobby
I'm assuming it's only LAN, but I'm not sure.
Doesn't work for me, but PS! hasn't been working for me in general lately.
we need to know names nyktos
fair enough
i guess we won't be sending those agents to your home anytime soon
I seem to be having the munchies constantly.
As in, I keep on wanting to find stuff to eat, as I'm trying to get homework done.
Well, finished a four-page paper, with the Works Cited page done and everything. And it only took about four hours!
Now for some more reading . . . and a topic proposal . . . and more memoir writing . . . and studying . . . and some leisure reading . . . and laundry, at some point.
I need to get to work.
I need to stop being distracted by the internet.
My cousin is a Minor League player so he has a wikipedia article too.
turn your computer off fool
or turn the computer's internet thing off fool
One of my cousins is an international beauty queen so she gets one, too (albeit small).
I know that feel, bro.
I think one problem is that I didn't really know how to approach this assignment.
I think I've just come up with how to do it.
God, I feel this experiment of listening to Top 40 songs is turning me into a deep one.
Will I grow gills when I get to Nicki Minaj?
Just cut them off like Hellboy.
Not sure what's wrong with listening to Top 40 songs though, aside from them usually getting overplayed.
any music that isn't 4'33 is for plebs
Mostly it's just me wading through a lot of shit looking for gems. And I mean I listen to some unabashed shit myself (I like Lita Ford's solo career) but a good deal of it is bad in a way that I find personally unappealing.
Nothing wrong with liking the top 40. I'm not about to tell you which vibrations you like hitting your ear drums more, but it was actually an oddly draining experience.
^^ the soundtrack to my life
I'm back, but I hardly think it's my fault that I'm gone. Most of the time that I try to come here, I get "can't find the server" messages or whatever. Has this been happening to anyone else? (Crossposted this to the main Activity thingy.)
^^^^ I could get into my Pretentious Music Snob mode and start explaining how I think that John Cage's strongest works are often his least overtly conceptual, but I don't think I should.
^^^ The problem is one with any big commercial proposition with a relatively low bar for entry: Most things sound the same, feel the same, and progress in the same ways.
^ Hello again, Evergreen.
