  • Actually, as for Guilty Gear soundtracks, it's mostly that it's oversaturated with the same kind of pseudo-"epic" metal and whatnot, which is already kind of an obvious choice for a fighting game, so it's just like... I can't bring myself to care about it.  Taken completely out of the context of the games, the songs are at least usually alright.

Though I still don't like Libera Me From Hell.  Too cheesy and full of Engrish for me to have any chance of taking it seriously.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I find it hard to see it as an obvious choice as the only fighting games to have metal have been Blazblue and Guilty Gear which were made by the same company.
  • Well, I guess more obvious like... it's commonly used as music for reasonably important fights in a lot of other genres of games and other forms of media.  At least, I hear it reasonably often.  I guess you're right about it not being especially common in fighting games.  Still, whenever I hear metal playing during a fight of some sort I just register it as being cheesy and such.  Which can still be alright in small doses, but... not as the entire soundtrack to a game.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I'll give you there a good number of games that have metal in them, but they're hardly a majority and in other mediums metal is usually a 'dirty' song genre.
  • Eh.  Fair enough.  You're probably right.  Still, I'd much rather listen to... a lot of other fighting game soundtracks than Guilty Gear/BlazBlue's...

...and, of course, I'd much rather listen to K-ON! soundtracks than any video game soundtracks anyway so... *goes and does that* >.>

BRB editing K-On footage to Love So Blue.
  • They're somethin' else.
You're allowed to have bad taste DYRE, so do what you will.
  • a little muffled
@TTGL Movies: Yeah, they're basically a retelling of the series, but they're worth watching anyway. The second one in particular is way more awesome than the appropriate part of the series. As much as a lot of the series's charm isn't just the mecha fights...I'll just say there's a new mecha, and the Tengen-Toppa Gurren Lagann comes up to about its ankle. Also the final fight is nearly half the movie, while the third arc takes up like fifteen minutes.

First movie's not as good, but the climactic fight in it is hilarious, and it has Yoko (rightfully) getting her own Ganmen for it (which she keeps in the second movie).
  • Also the final fight is nearly half the movie

*decides never to watch this movie ever*

  • You can change. You can.
It's OK, Dyre. You're human and lame.
  • a little muffled
Keep in mind that this is an anime fight scene, so half of it is spent talking anyway.

and shoving the theme of the story RIGHT IN YER FACE
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Keep in mind that this is an anime fight scene

It's OK, Cygan. You like Nanoha. You're allowed to have bad taste.
  • Cygan never likes anything I thought Cygan liked.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Cygan never likes anything I thought Cygan liked.

What do you think I like?
  • MLP, I was wrong about that. That korean webcomic (not like, but find scary) you didn't find scary, so I figured something on the other end of the scale like Gurren Lagann would be something you like but that's not the case, is it.

Do you like Azumanga Daioh? If not, I don't have anywhere near of a clear picture about what you like.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Ninja, just a hint: avatars are a pretty good way to figure out what people like.
  • Avatars do not necessarily mean you like watching what you chose as your avatar.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I have never watched Azumanga Daioh.

I would not try and pin my tastes down like that though. About the best you will be able to find is 'Does not like dark works/gorey works'.

Beyond that, I just watch things because I like some of the characters. I watched Soul Eater through to the end because somebody told me about Chrona and I thought I would like him/her; I watched Fullmetal Alchemist to the end because I liked Edward, Alphonse and Winry; I watched Nanoha because I like Fate; I watched Buffy because I like Faith and Willow; I watch Angel because I like Angel; etc etc.

I also like lesbians, so that's a pretty good indicator :D
  • You can change. You can.
I watch Angel because I like Angel

finally someone who agrees with me on that instead of saying Fred or Wesley.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I like Angel better than them. I guess I just have a liking for characters on a redemptive streak or whatever.
  • You can change. You can.
Yeah, Angel is prolly my second favorite fictional character ever.

Malcolm Reynolds is still number one.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Another good point about Angel is that while he is broody, he's not always particularly... angst-ridden. He can joke around, and he can be lighthearted, although he's never particularly happy.
  • You can change. You can.
I'd say that the thing that always gets me about Angel is the way he helps others. and takes cares of his group, both emotionally and physically. He always puts on a face, even when things are harder than ever (The whole season 4 arc comes to mind) and yet you know he's in as much shit as the whole group and he knows it, so he tries to solves it (End of season 5 and the whole final charge on Wolfram and Hart)

wheeee, long time since I've talked about Angel.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I think Angel gets better later on when he lightens up a bit and by contrast Wesley gets better when he starts brooding.
  • You can change. You can.
I think season 2 was the best for me and it contradicts your statement, so there! >:|

but really, I think Angel was at its best when Angel finds on his own what he needs to do. Not win a big battle against evil, but helping people, every day, be a good person. Because life is not a big battle with a big resolution. Life...is complicated, man. I tells ya

    /Hippie talk.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Season 5 was the best for me because it was all about Angel finding out what was best for angel.

    Also muppets.
  • I can't move beyond the fact he murdered hundreds of people. I don't know why this bothers me much more than it should
