Alternatively, the Tales of Phantasia OVA. If you're going to watch something of suboptimal quality, the ToP anime is reasonably decent and sort of endearing. But only if you like faggy (SNES) anime games, I guess.
tried out arcade stick Mega Man X.
I used double tap to dash instinctively.
I haven't played ToP so if I'm going to watch crap I tend to prefer to be things I have some prior connection to (ergo Smallville and my hatecrush)
It's not crap, but flawed enough that it's not that good, either. Swords and sorcery anime with some mild moeshit on the side, really.
But even then it's not good enough for me to actively seek it nor does it have anything to give me a strong desire to like Darkstalkers or moe Nyarlathotep does.
The PS3 controller for some reasons leaves my knuckles all weak and shit after a while of using it.
The 360 controller...I haven't used often enough to make a proper judgment, but if it is just as the first xbox controller, then i don't wanna touch it
It's different. Basically what I felt the x-box controller was.
I'm playing Story mode on BlazeBlue: SEx(love that acronym) There are some moments of surprisingly good dialogue in it.
I thought the humour and lore from Continuum Shift were really good, but most of the "serious" stuff fell really flat for me.
Yeah, that's generally how I felt. I did like Hazama's ultimate plan, but involved an elaborate scheme to make a god machine not omniscient for a fraction of a second so of course I did.
There's the makings of a great animu in Blazblue provided you get the right people.
And as a fighter it's absolutely solid. That said, it's kind of surprising that the indie Skullgirls has better animation in their sprites.
I really like almost all the characters too. They're old archetypes, but they're well realized.
And Noel is adorable.
Edit: Wrong thread.
As complete products, I'm very pleased with BlazBlue games in general. The aesthetics, music and mechanics are all brilliant. They're pretty much just a joy to play, and, as mentioned, I do like the lore/backstory. Their weakest point, though, is the visual novel style single player campaigns. I know video game advertising is bunk, but when the box art advertises a great narrative, I expect it to be basically competent whereas BlazBlue's stories are kind of horrible and boring most of the time.
That said, I don't mind very much. I play fighting games -- especially BlazBlue -- to punch lots of people to a soundtrack of wailing guitars, preferably with a strong aesthetic involved. The franchise should probably ditch the visual novel style, as it's not very engaging in a product that is otherwise a consistent action experience.
"THE SEA OR THE VALLEY, PICK ONE"
You guys stop reminding me that I only have Calamity Trigger.
I don't have enough monies. ;-;
> implying that additional editions of BlazBlue are worth the retail price when they're really just expansion packs
> in b4 "silly alex, that is how fighting game sequels work"
> i know, damnit
I'm hoping for a cheaper price on the new one, but I'd also like to save for a 3DS. I think it's mostly me trying not to spend frivolously my money on stuff I don't need.
So, in MH World, did Jump Four Jaggi with a friend. Which brings up how Jaggi is pronounced anyways and how some of the enemy AI can be rather dumb/lazy. Had some Jaggia jump down to... take a nap while we carve up its Great Jaggi brethren.
Also, ONE DAY, QURUPECO. YOU BEST WATCH YOURSELF, BUDDY.
Eh, I like the visual novel stuff, though I believe the rumors it was originally going to be a JRPG. I can see why people would find it unengaging though.
Again the story aspect of BB would work better as an animu or a comic though.
Is it weird that the visual novel segments are the only reason I play it? >.>
The visual novel parts are fun but fighting game fans and visual novel fans go for different things.
That said, the fighters don't have to play through story mode and the story-obsessed don't have to go online and compete.
And hey without the VN aspect we would have the scene of Ragna talking with valley girl pirate Nu or Noel cosplay and snuggling pandas.
That said, I think the VN part is fine. It just needs refinement to be more effective, even if I don't think the inefficiencies in storytelling ever be completely gone.
Also, I wish Rachel wasn't a loli because I like pretty much everything else about her as a character, but vampire lolis seem to be a thing these days.
Edit: Oh man the whole sex-violence thing with Nu and Ragna is pushed super hard here.
Bleh. Rachel. Probably my least-favorite character out of the original CT cast. >
I honestly can't stand her type of character. Maybe there's something in the other games that make me dislike her less, I don't know.
>Thinking Rachel is worse than Carl.
I didn't play/see Carl too much, so I don't have much of an opinion on him. Replaying it may change my mind.
Wait if you're talking about Playstyle-wise Rachel is definitely high-tier in CT.
Admittedly in CS she's absolute garbage.
I meant in the story.
Rachel's play-style is alright, not exactly my cup of tea, but it gets the job done.
I tend to play as Jin or Noel. The former because swords lol, but he's also got a very short, sharp style that I find easy to measure and control. Noel is great for the opposite, because it's really easy to make her flow at a regular pace.
I mostly play faster "hit-and-run" style characters in fighting games. Which doesn't explain why I main A.B.A in GGXXAC, but there you go!
I'm pretty much the only one I know that plays Hakumen. One, because I liked his design and sought him out from the get go, and two, I tend to like slower/high damage characters that aren't grapplers.
Speaking of grapplers, who the hell thought it was a good idea to make special throws have such an annoying input?
Double-tap-to-dash in MMX does NOT agree with dash-jumping off of walls, AT ALL. They use precisely this mechanism in the Mega Man Xtreme GBC games. And it SUCKS.
and HOLY SHIT IT'S BABY RIDLEY
Hey, remember Farming Simulator 2011?
...wait, what the fuck is this
So, I hear Diablo 3 was fairly unplayable for awhile there due to the servers being crowded at the game's launch.
This may be the first time this has happened for a single-player game -_-
Why do people like Blizzard again?
^'Cause their games are (or were) fun and incredibly polished. I hate to say it, but Blizzard has given in to the Activision side.
