  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
While I love OOT, I don't really get how its story is especially well-told.
  • The reason most people think it's well-told is that they were like 7 when they played it. It's really easy to impress a 7-year-old.

    You can change. You can.
I thought it was well-told and I was 16 when I played it.

It's not specially so, but it's good.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I just recently played a bit of OoT/MM on my N64. I was surprised how well they held up. Especially MM.
  • I played it when I was 13 and thought it was a good game. According to Chagen, I am juvenile and easily impressed.

    -headdesk-

Majora's Mask is better for multiple reasons, though. Much better atmosphere is my top reason.

  • I also liked the considerably ramp up in difficulty.

I'm not counting how much of a Guide Dang It OoT Master Quest was though. I only made it to Ganon's Castle. >//////<
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

    Clarity and simplicity.

And then, if you like, there's also the Fridge Logic.
  • They're somethin' else.
o hay its this thread again.

INB4 objectively wrong, because you probably are ;D
  • I'd second Link's Awakening as best in the series, but that's mostly because it was my first Zelda. Ocarina had the best overall strength, MM had a better overworld, sidequests and mini-bosses.

Ever since those two, Zelda games always seemed to gain a false dichotomy between 8 dungeons(+1 final dungeon) and 4 to 6 dungeons plus a sidequest-filled overworld.

no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
I love Ocarina of Time. It, Link to the Past and the original NES Zeldas are the ones I replay the most often.

I own copies of Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask, but... honestly those just aren't as good. Actually I'd go as far as to call MM freaking horrible. I used to have the Oracle games too, but they weren't very fun and I got sick of them quickly.

Though I dislike the Zelda franchise as a whole. Not for any particular reason, just it seems to always get the critical acclaim when in every console generation, there was a competing game that was way better. The NES ones were up against Ys and Crystalis, the SNES one was up against Secret of Mana and Soulblazer (and the Genny's Landstalker and Crusader of Centy), the Gameboy one was up against The Final Fantasy Adventure... actually, the N64 ones are the only ones I can think of that didn't have any quality competition. At least, not any I've played. No wonder they stand out so much.

I stopped playing the series after that. No reason, I just wasn't interested anymore.
  • Wind Waker was my favorite.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
I actually liked Oracle of Seasons the best, followed by Link to the Past. I'm not that big on 3-D Zelda titles.

The 2D Zeldas are better with the LttP controls than the sucky NES controls. That's why these fangames will always beat anything Zelda Classic can put out.

  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
The "sucky NES controls" work better on an actual NES.

I liked the idea of Zelda Classic, but I couldn't play it with a keyboard.
  • Minish Cap is my favourite. the first Zelda I played.
