    I routinely get up to Level 5, but sooner or later it devolves into 'There's two 5-1 rows, and I have one 2-point score left to find. Which one is it under?'

    That does happen. Rather annoying when it gets to that.

    It's less likely to send you to level one for that than for dying on the first turn, though.

    How did you people get porygon in the first gen?

    Did you play the casino or just buy enough credits?

    I found that I could win on those slot machines when playing on the TV using Super Game Boy, but not when playing on an actual Game Boy.

    When playing the actual first gen games, I'm not sure I actually bothered.

    When playing the remakes, I looked up which slot machine had the slowest spin.

    When playing Gen 1/2 I would just grind the E4 for cash and buy the damn thing. Amulet Coin in Gen 2 really helped with that.

    I just straight up bought them. The Game Corners single-handedly instilled my seething hatred of gambling and Luck Based Missions in general.

    For those of you who don't know, changes to European Law regarding gambling and children meant that Nintendo had to cut the Slot Machines out of the games or get bumped up to a higher rating.

    Nintendo obviously cut out the slots. The first game to do this was the PAL version of Platinum. The Game Corner remained but the slots were unplayable. 

    When HGSS came around, rather than ham-fistedly cutting the slots out for Europe, Nintendo just cut out the Game Corner altogether and replaced it with Voltorb Flip for all non-Japanese versions of the game. 

    Then when Gen 5 came around they just didn't bother with a Game Corner at all. Possibly because of this law, possibly because the main draw of the Game Corner - the TMs - are now infinite use. Either way, no more Game Corners. 

    The really interesting part will be seeing if it's restored for the inevitable Gen 3 remakes.

    Voltorb Flip is worse. Far worse. You can't buy coins in Voltorb Flip. The only way to get them is to play the damn game and it eventually just boils down to pure luck. 

    It SUCKS.

    I'm definitely starting to worry that Emolga is just too good for this run. Superman just learned Acrobatics at Level 30 and the little bastard is murdering everything in sight. 

    I'm still not going back to using fucking Santacular though.

    Honestly? It probably would be. Cryognal's Physical Stats are worse than wet paper but it's Special Stats are quite good. I'd definitely say it's too strong. 

    This is unrelated, but Cryogonal also has just about the worst movepool I have ever seen on a mon. Holy hell is it bad.

    It's better than Vanilluxe's, I'd say. If only for Solarbeam.

    So theoretically you could use it in a Sun team as an Anti-Dragon measure or something.

    Yeah Vanilluxe is the other contender for Worst Movepool Ever. 

    At least Cryogonal has a niche in being a Rapid Spinner with Levitate.

    I noticed today that Black and White were actually going for slightly less at Wal-Mart than on Amazon, so I caved and got Black, even though there are still around 55 mons I don't have from the first 4 generations.

    Impressions of Black so far (i.e. not having finished the first conversation): these games keep getting more and more 3d. I wonder if gen 6 or 7 will just outright be 3d.

    Impression 2: YES. The battle system is more streamlined now. FINALLY.

    Impression 3: Heh, the only thing in your room that isn't damaged is the Wii. Gotta love Nintendium.

    Impression 4: This game is making me do an unintentional liveblog. Interesting..

    Impression 5: GIMME THE DAMN RUNNING SHOES ALREADY. Seriously, they really just need to give you the ability to run to start with.

    Impression 6: As always, I take forever to name my Pokemon. Introducing Opheo the Snivy.

    Impression 7: The new Pokedex design is pretty cool.

    Impression 8: Caught a Lillipup. Named him Yorick.

    Impression 9: Caught a Patrat. Named her Cyna.

    Impression 10: They really redid the Pokemon Center this time. Or maybe it's just the camera angle that makes me think that.

    ^No, but the animations are shorter and the HP bars just immediately lose the whole chunk rather than sloooowlyyyyy lowering.

    Impression 12: Ghetsis would seem pretty nice in his first scene if it weren't for the ominous music, weird outfit and stuff.
