Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
^Play the Blaze Black/Volt White hacks. You can't do the former but the Champions levels cap out at 99.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

^That moveset makes puppies  Lillipups cry.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^Hydro pump is also not Gyarados's best move, as it also uses his lowest stat to determine damage.

    TEACH BIDOOF HYPER BEAM

    FUCKING HARDCORE

    ONLY DOES 5 DAMAGE

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Imagine the arena filling up with water the second you use Water Spout, meaning your non-water type Pokemon drown. Imagine trying to order your Pokemon to move when the ground has been frozen with Blizzard. Imagine trying to tell your Pokemon to move at all when the entire arena is on fire thanks to a Lava Plume.

    I DON"T FUCKING CARE

    IT"S FUCKING GLORIOUS

AND I GOT PWNED BY IT THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT WHEN GARY USED IT

That said, on that basis, you could say that no 1st-gen water-type moves are useful for gyarados since they all use special stats I think.

Also, no one teaches gyarados hyper beam; it learns it by itself.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    Giga Impact for Gyarados.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    That's not a 1st-gen water move.

has nothing to do with destroying the environment.

Outrage is better than any of the moves listed so far.

IJBM: No one plays a format where you DON'T use TMs to teach mons better moves and you only select from moves mons would naturally learn.
  • That's because that would be stupid.

Bah. You say that now, but it's every bit as awesome to my sleep-deprived brain.
  • You can change. You can.
I'll stop lurking just to say that:

Imagine the arena filling up with water the second you use Water Spout, meaning your non-water type Pokemon drown. Imagine trying to order your Pokemon to move when the ground has been frozen with Blizzard. Imagine trying to tell your Pokemon to move at all when the entire arena is on fire thanks to a Lava Plume.

this would almost surely make me want to play pokemon.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I could use the attack Poison Gas on a bunch of Pokemon I nicknamed JEW?

    Fuck yeah
  • I want your hard, feathery cock, Bird Boy.
Do egg moves count as Natural? Cause Momma needs her Mirror Coat Blastoise.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Juan- now imagine it when it's not your team doing it, and the second you try to play the first level all your Pokemon are instantly drowned ;)

    goodnight
  • I want your hard, feathery cock, Bird Boy.
Unless the Pokemon knows how to fly or swim. You don't have to be water type.

Also, we need more real-time Pokemon games.
  • I want your hard, feathery cock, Bird Boy.
Imagine playing as Pokemon Trainer from Super Smash Bros Brawl.

It would be like, a whole fighting game of trainers like that.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
^Or let the trainers themselves get in on the fightan.

I mean who doesn't want to punch an Onix?
  • You can change. You can.
Of course, in my head, it doesn't play out like that. It plays out as thus:

    > Water Spout is used.

    > It affects the environment, as the place is flooded per turn.

    > The flood reduces non-water Pokemons' Speed.

Also, you can always take the non-water pokemon away and bring in a Gyarados/Magikarp/whatever.

@GMH: Waterfall actually is a 1st Gen Water move. It was exclusive to Seaking at the time but it does count.

@Juan Carlos: That's actually what happens when you use Grass and Water Pledge together. The battlefield turns swampy and your opponents get slowed down.

    > That's because that would be stupid.

No, it would make a lot of mons retain their flavor.  Especially when it comes to signature moves.

    > Do egg moves count as Natural?

Come to think of it, probably not.

^ I think all water moves were either physical or special, and probably special, in Gen 1.  physical vs. special was decided by type back then (with a few strange things like ghost being physical).
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
There's something I've been wondering for a while. Why the hell does Geodude learn mud sport?
  • @GMH: They were all Special in Gen 1 yes. Teaching Gyarados Water moves back then was basically just moveset filler for dealing with Golem's laughably low Sp. Def. I was pointing out that Waterfall is now Physical.

@INUH: I think Mud Sport also affects your partner in Doubles/Triples.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Ah, gotcha. Still seems like one of its less useful moves.

  • DAT CG

@INUH: Oh it's utterly worthless, don't get me wrong. It's just that's the reason it learns it.

@Chagen: What move is that Panpour supposed to be even using in that shot? Work Up?
