Which is the most miserable fanbase, IJBM?
Comments
Six is the one with the train suplex, right?
Six kind of does start slowly, which is something I do dislike about it. Can't remember how long it takes to really start up, but it's not the four-hour intro marathon FF7 was.
^ It might be. Been a while.
Okay, I might try it again if I ever figure out where my copy is.
I would never forget a silly moment like that.
I know you're not serious, but I sincerely believe they aren't that good. Or at least, Mars Attacks and Pee Wee aren't. I don't remember Beetlejuice, I haven't watched Edward as a whole and I've never watched BF in the first place.
Didn't dismiss all Anime, just called its fans delusional. I happen to like a handful of anime/manga.
>thus, in essence, calls himself delusional
>suddenly makes list of claims about fandoms understandable
Comic fans are a bunch of self-entitled twats.
">feels people force MLP onto him"
Well if they're trying to be funny with that MLP takeover meme, I've got my vegetable catapults ready.
Gore, furry antros and other disgusting fanart is much more effective in trolling that away.
The actual title of the thread refers to "miserable fandoms." So if you're being really pedantic about it, a lot of the examples given don't really show a miserable fandom, just one with undesirable features. They may still be enjoying themselves, in spite of being a bunch of tossers.
Really, we need to find fandoms that basically are coming or have come to hate what they once loved. Twilight and (yes!) Star Wars do come to mind, unfortunately, as people who liked the works initially have been steadily alienated by the adaptations/sequels/prequels.
@INUH: Pick up an SNES cart/ROM of Final Fantasy II (US) (i.e. FFIV) when you're bored. Or better yet, just get the ROM. This way, you have access to a turbo button.
Turbo button makes ALL random battles MUCH easier to tolerate.
I dunno how much this counts as a "fanbase", but I just realised that as a history nerd and a great lover of folklore and legend, an extremely vast array of modern fantasy leaves me cold.
I guess it's like what cap'n pointed out just above; a fandom where fans of the "originals" (malk no malking) have been steadily alienated by contemporary related works. It's kind of interesting how The Lord Of The Rings fits in there, as it's possibly the only work that gets the same acclaim from mythology fans and fantasy fans alike, although I have no doubt Tolkien himself would be dismayed at what he had spawned.
you can't say that, you're not much better than he >:[
Yes, but his username can be reduced to one syllable. :>
Hmmm... Malx?
Alex - Yeah, I'm also more interested in real history than fantasy writing, with the exception of Tolkien. He spawned a lot of inferior imitations.
Mad.
MALK NO MALKING! MALK NO MALKING!
(snaps fingers)
Oh man!
In terms of miserable, I'd say Mega Man. Everyone's kicking them down nowadays.
Even CAPCOM seems to hate Megaman fans these days... :<
Nah. Well, yes, but also stuff like not having Megaman as a playable character in Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Why do Capcom and people continue to rub salt in the wound?
Not putting him in UMVC sounded like a pretty big bird to the fans.
They did put him in... as a costume for Zero.
That's probably even worse.
Hey guys, don't worry, he's going to be in Tekken vs Street Fighter!!
.....
Oh, right. Also that shit.
