Aquaman outsells every Marvel comic in January
Comments
I don't read comics, but Aquaman was pretty badass in the DCAU.
Mind if I just laugh at your pain
To be fair, Aquaman's kinda awesome. Fuck yeah, Shakespearan tragedy under the sea.
^^Why do you insist on hurting me, Clock?
^I like Aquaman, but his current comic is written be Geoff Johns. That should say it all.
Because I've been gone and I need some method to catch up on how you've been.
Aquaman's awesome. Especially when he went all 90s and chopped his hand off.
I liked the one Peter David comic where Aquaman was having adventures underwater reminiscent of stuff like A Princess of Mars.
oh
i never spoke at all, then
So, Geoff Johns is bad, if so, why?
Johns has a bad habit of stripping characters and entire stories to barebones concepts like 'willpower' or 'speed' or other nonsense and while it can work for stories that are simple adventures as character pieces they're pretty bad.
A notable thing about the Aquaman is that it's a professional comic basically going 'Shut up! Aquaman's not lame!' instead of actually showing us Aquaman doing cool stuff to prove he's not lame.
And you all know my opinion on his Justice league.
I actually like some of his comics, but he's too much of a nostalgiafag which means that often, he writes characters not as characters, but as legacies. Hal Jordan's not just a Green Lantern, but he's the GREATEST, MOST CHARISMATIC GL WHO INSPIRED US ALL TO BE BETTER and so on. which makes reading his comics problematic if you're not familiar with the concepts he brings back from old stories.
He's not entirely bad, which makes it worse, because you can see how good he can be at times (The Sinestro Corps War comes to mind)
