Jackie was too freaked out even to reprimand Charles for kicking a corpse.
Ray decided to take a careful look at the geodudes around him.
"Errrr... I think getting out of Mt. Moon posthaste has now become an even higher priority..."
"Vuuuulllll..." Phillip said with a shiver.
Castle remained unbothered as he continued hopping along.
Bob clutched his club tighter. He seemed on edge.
"I don't like this. I really, really, really don't like this. I think we need to move."
"Everyone keep an eye out and be prepared to run like you're being chased by a mad arcanine."
"S-so...d-do we just keep moving, then?"
"That's why I said be prepared to run, not actually start running." Ray said. He gave a kind look towards Greg. "Be at ease, Greg. So long as we keep our wits about us we should be safe. Charles is right though. Sneaking past is the best option."
Ray was doing his best to sound confident in the hopes to calm the others down. As frightened as he was, he knew that acting jittery would only put them in danger.
"No. No, there's too much riding on this to do anything different." She tried to project calm as well, but she was clearly rattled. "Let's just... just keep moving."
"Arceus, Charles, put that down."
"Carrie, I want a weapon"
Greg looks at Ray and nods. "R-right. No point panicking now...let's keep moving."
"Whatever did this, you can see what good those rocks had." Ray said. "Charles, please. You're upsetting Carrie. Some decorum for the dead, please."
Their voyage through the cave this time was peaceful too.
Soon enough, though, they came to a dead end. It took a moment of time, but they found a ladder leading up into another cave.
At the ladder...
"Shall I climb up first?"
Greg looks up the ladder, trying to seem less scared than he is.
Still sitting on his head, Chitter shuffles restlessly.
(Frickin' ninja edits, man).
"Careful Jackie." Ray said. "We don't know where or what this thing is." Noting the Gastly's reactions, Ray mused on the irony of a frightened ghost. He wisely said nothing though.
Bob was now being clutched protectively in Carrie's arms. He did not seem pleased with this turn of events.
"...Be careful."
Greg carefully climbs the ladder.
Ray follows slowly after Greg. "Carrie, follow along. None of us should be separated."
The cave they emerge into is a lot smaller than previous ones; small enough to be able to vaguely see the walls a couple of dozen feet away.
There is a tunnel to the right of the ladder. Before anyone can do anything about going up it, though, there is a loud roar, and a crash. A large rock, thankfully not a Pokemon this time, rolled out of the tunnel.
It soon went quiet.
Carrie also ascended. "Shouldn't we be a little more cautious next time? Like... have someone make sure the coast is clear before we all go up?"
As the sudden crash cut through the silence, Carrie squeaked, and very nearly lost her grip. "What was that?!"
Greg reaches the top of the ladder and stares at the rock, but doesn't speak.
Ray look at at the tunnel, his inquisitive mind set ablaze. He quietly pick up a rock and tossed into the path of the cave.
As her friends didn't seem to be dead or terrified, Carrie resumed her climb.
