"Mercer, come here!" While Mercer floated over, tilted low while it recovered from its injury, Jackie pulled a potion from her bag, panicking a little. She rubbed his head and administered it to him; it couldn't be used to its fullest in this case, but Mercer was fragile.
(He lost 8 HP, and potions heal for a minimum of 11, so he'll be back at full, and I'll be down a potion).
"Brandon, you can come here too! Good job, you two!"
Other Pokemon, who had surreptitiously been watching the fight, quickly hurried off.
The path was cleared again, for everyone to continue on.
Greg looks around. "I-if everyone's okay, we'd better keep moving."
"Quite, Charles. I imagine Mt. Moon will be quite the trek."
"That was rough enough. Honestly, I'm kinda scared for Mt. Moon now." To say nothing of Team Rocket. She seemed calm enough, though, and scanned the two unconscious, wild Pokemon with her Pokedex.
"Agreed. Recklessness is only gonna get us hurt."
Ray finished up scanning the pokemon they had defeated and looked at the others. "However time waits for no man. As soon as we're all done retrieving data we should get going. The mountain won't come to us after all."
"Thirded. Mercer, from now on, try not to get too close to the enemies, okay?" Mercer nodded, still a little sore from the purple horn that had jabbed him. "You're not really built for that, and I don't want you getting hurt." He nods again.
Ray gestured to Jackie "All I know is I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a kick from her."
"The whole world? How do we know they're not just after a country, or a town or something?"
Snow shivered from fear
"Charles, don't even joke about that. We don't have time for this, and frankly, I don't trust every Pokemon we see not to be a liability.
"And don't talk about us getting killed, either. No one wants to hear it." After that, Jackie glared at him, hoping the point had been put across.
"So...should we get moving, then?"
"Indeed." Ray said. "Come we've got quite a bit of trail to go on! Onwards for justice!" Ray began a quick pace.
Jackie's Pokedex finished scanning right about then. "Well, I am. Mercer, Brandon? You guys ready, too?" They gave their agreement, and Jackie turned in the direction that they had been heading.
Greg follows the group, walking a little behind the others.
"And yeah, shut up Charles."
"It's like I've been trying to tell you." Ray insisted. "Team Rocket's goals are much more deep-rooted than you think. They've gone under numerous names in the past but they've existed for a good deal of human history. We're only seeing one tail of the Ninetales here."
"That makes perfect sense." Ray said icily. "These stones were hidden from the public and stolen by the premiere criminal organization in the world to grab a Kingdra."
"If the book was accurate, the dragons can live as humans, they're wise, and they're very, very powerful. It sounds pretty legendary to me. Call me if you find a Charizard that fits the description." She shrugged. "And we should be prepared. It could theoretically just be a run of the mill strong Pokemon... but what if it's not?"
"How about we don't let things progress to the point where we find out what their plan is?"
"I second that motion."
"Goddammit, Charles, what are you doing?!" Given the group's recent encounter with wild Pokemon, Jackie wanted to stay with the majority. And frankly, a spanking at the hands of irate wild Pokemon might do him some good.
"A sound sentiment, but it is never a bad idea to prepare for the worst." Ray responded. "If we find out Rocket's true intentions we'll be all the more prepared to stop them."
