sounds good to me.
Those days are good for me.
Once again no shifts
Yep, fuck that. I'm going job hunting. I'll be on for Monday though
Awesome.
...Alright that was a stupid post. Why do I post when tired?
So, I checked out the PTA forum, and looking through all of the stuff that people have said makes it really hard for me to wait for v1.3; supposedly it comes with a lot. Hopefully that much, if not a final product, will be done before I head to college, because I would really like to try starting a game of this with new friends.
Something else I was wondering about: why can't Pokemon stats be determined in a manner similar to the games? As it is, 1-point stat increases from level to level don't honestly make a huge difference, and I saw at least one person talk about how level 30's took on a level 70 with no problem, and another guy who said that five trainers with level 16's had no problems taking down 6 level 26 Ariados's. In the games, that would be absurd, and I'd like to see PTA reflect that better.
Also, could we possibly speed Trainer leveling up a bit? While there are 188 "canon" ways to gain trainer EXP, a fair chunk of it involves fighting Gym Leaders/Elite Four/Frontier Brains, and by the time we've seen 25 Pokemon, our Pokemon might already be leveled up a couple more times, and they're already at levels 9-12 compared to the level 0 Trainers.
I believe the rulebook mentioned that trainers are really only expected to get to level 15-20 in even a longer campaign.
It does. I just happen to think that's dumb. Why allow leveling up to 50 if they only expect most people to get to 20?
And I just realized that I may never get to the wanted Advanced classes I have planned
I saw what, from what I can gather based on others' posts, a pretty effective Trainer EXP system that works similarly to those of the Pokemon; the creator commented that a trainer reaches level 20 by the time one of his Pokemon reaches level 100, and of course trainers don't usually raise only one Pokemon.

What I'd if I were running a game is just add non-canon ways to level up, for getting closer to whatever your goals are.
The PHB says there are non-canon ways to level up according to what the GM wants to do, and if anything that's what I would suggest for the moment, if we want to speed up trainer leveling (and I know I do; I'd like to actually get to be a Martial Artist soon, especially since I just found generic Trainer Features that boost the physical ability scores).
Trainer leveling should start happening pretty soooooon
Like, next session soon
You just have to wait for things to start happening
Which they will next session
I was planning on at least 2 Trainer levels next lesson :x
*takes first class as Ghost*
Awesome. That should get me a level of psychic at least, though I'm not sure if I qualify as capture specialist immediately after that.
EDIT: Turns out I do!
Well, I don't qualify for Engineer, which is the reason I'm even taking capture specialist, for some time after that.
Cool. By the way, has everyone already scanned Spinarak and Nincada? And can dead Geodudes be scanned? Last I checked, I was at 11 seen Pokemon.
I'll qualify for Martial Artist immediately, and after that I'll probably dabble in Ace Trainer. I think I was going to go Black Belt, Ace Trainer, and (assuming we reach level 25) Type Ace (Fighting).
I just kinda assumed we'd all have scanned them :P
I'm at 16 scans. What all do I have that you don't?
As for Geodudes...I'd rather not scan dead ones, even from a metagaming perspective :<
Dead Pokemon cannot be scanned.
"I just kinda assumed we'd all have scanned them :P"
Maybe I just haven't updated, but I don't remember what I'd be missing, aside from Spinarak and Nincada, and I'm not too worried about documenting them, assuming neither dies before the current situation is resolved. @Cygan: Is it okay if I just set my "seen" count to 14?
^ Fair enough. I wouldn't have done it in character, anyway. I was just curious.
...Dammit I could have scanned Darkrai as evidence, couldn't of I?
I'm pretty sure I scanned everything INUH scanned.
By the way, what type of action have we been treating scanning as?
I have been treating it as a thing you do
As in a standard action (or whatever the PTA equivalent is), or just as something that isn't classified as an action?
Apparently the Patch Log has it as a free action.
How hard would you 'No!' a player if they wrote on a Jirachi Wish Tag that they wanted a level 100 Arceus that was perfectly loyal to them?
I've been treating it as something that isn't classified as an action, but takes three turns to complete.
"I've been treating it as something that isn't classified as an action, but takes three turns to complete."
Okay. Also, about that question I had earlier, does anyone remember if I forgot to scan anything besides Spinarak and Nincada?
