DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS GAME NEEDS ANY MORE PUBLICITY?

yes, for people who don't follow gaming news outlets.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Said commercials are on gaming sites.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
yes, for people who aren't Malkavian. :0D
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    Everyone is Malkavian.

    Everyone

    wait...

    what

    how the

    WHO AM I
  • Don't worry. I used to be a sockpuppet of GLORIOUSLeader.

Anyways, do you own the game yet?

  • Two of my friends got Arkham City on the first day, I've been avoiding them both.
  • You think it's Malkavian, but it's really Clayface pretending to be Malkavian.
  • $80+ per session
The Clayface fight in Arkham City is cool.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
It seems to be getting a lot of "Best Superhero Game Ever Made"s and "One of the Greatest Games Ever"s attached to it, but that accolade gets thrown around a little too loosely these days for me to take that seriously.
  • $80+ per session
I fully agree with the accolades.
  • The pacing and the plotting are a bit too wonky for me to go that far, but it is a pretty good game.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I would agree with 'Best Superhero game of all time' because let's face it that's not saying much.

I will say it's definitely worth its $60.

The plot is... well, not terrible, but it's an excuse to go from one set-piece to another.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Can't really afford it right now. But Asylum was good.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I think the moment that sold me for Asylum was when I used my detective vision to see a guy hiding behind a corner, and when he popped out I just kicked him in the face.

It actually made me feel like Batman.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
That stuff's pretty awesome, but the Scarecrow segments were my favorite bits.
  • There are a few parts that are blatantly trying to be the new Scarecrow bits.

They don't really succeed, but they're still decent. Also a lot of things about the game make me feel like they ran out of time or disc space.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    I'll agree with that.

The word pander has been thrown around a lot on this forum lately and this game definitely panders as far as villains go. I mean, Calender Man? Seriously?

Some of them just made me gleeful, like the presence of Raz'z. Presumably he'll be the main villain of the next game.
  • It's not like Calender Man does anything.
  • You can change. You can.
Calendar Man could be an interesting villain. Specially if, you know, it means that Batman gets to play detective, which is something that Asylum didn't do well.
  • Batman was basically a glorified bloodhound in Arkham City, not gonna lie.

This is how you do detectiving!

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I know that there's a specific reason for it, but I found it to be a pretty big leap of faith for Batman to just assume Raz'z was in Arkham City because one ninja in his globe-spanning league of assassins was there.

I was also kind of disappointed it wasn't Lady Shiva, which actually would have made it less of a leap in logic.
  • Also, not enough was done with the Penguin's pet shark.
  • Thane of rum-guzzling and necromancy

Meh, better Arkham City than Modern Warfare 3. Enjoy it while it lasts, MW3 is going to dominate the press in a week or so.

  • Does anyone know if the Riddler means that you need to solve more riddles before you can advance to the next stage of "The Enigma Conundrum", or do challenges and Riddler trophies/statues also make a difference?
  • Still haven't played Arkham Asylum or Arkham City. Don't really plan to.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^I haven't played City, but Asylum is worth it just for the Scarecrow segments.
  • Also, how do I find the other victims of that Identity Theft guy? I just kind of stumbled across Deadshot's kill areas, but I don't know where to find the Identity Theft victims.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I'm really confused at the people saying this is a great Batman story. Have people let their standards for narrative drop so low that it being slightly less obvious that the plot is a string of macguffin chases onto set-pieces is really good storytelling?

Even if you could feign ignorance of the really great comic bits, I can't see how anyone could know about The Dark Knight and think this is in the upper ranks of what Batman has to offer.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I loved it, but I wouldn't say it is. I've read Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth and other great Batman stories. While this is the best videogame version of Batman we're likely to see, it is not on the same level.

I think it's just a good game with excellent set-pieces and atmosphere. The plot's frankly nothing to write home about.
