    Also, unlikely as it is, could it be something to do with the fact that more kinds of people are likely to go for the unsalted? With salted, it's just people who want a snack, with unsalted, you've now got anyone who intends on cooking with cashews.

    Wouldn't salted not go bad as quickly, making them more cost efficient?
  • Considering that roasted nuts, salted or otherwise have a shelf life measured in months (9 to 12), I'd doubt this actually factors in much.
