Except maybe Twist. I don't think I've heard anyone say they enjoyed what she brought to the show.

Well, Twist did provide two of the most hilarious moments in Friendship is Witchcraft.

I'm usually in flux as to which one I like best.  Every time I think I have one picked, somepony else does something priceless and I'm forced to reconsider.  Twilight and Applejack do that less often, but only because out of a cast and show full of sheer ham they're the closest ones to sane (relatively) and as such their awesome moments are typically less in-your-facey and their lame moments are less lame.  They're like if you took the awesome and normalized or smoothed it.  Fluttershy is leading the pack more often than the rest though, so hey.

In the fanon though, Pinkie hands down.  Fanon Pinkie is one of the most versatile characters I've ever seen.

I kind of hope we see more out of Dash soon.  Since the Rainboom she hasn't really been doing much except biff the Discord thing even worse than the rest of the cast.  The fact that she's the most overtly one-dimensional one of the cast doesn't really help matters.
  • I think the next episode involves Scootaloo becoming Rainbow's pet.

Anyway, I like Twilight best. There are some parts that make me reconsider that at times, but I like intelligent and sane characters, and I like that she and Spike are in main character positions where they can trade off being the sensible one responding to the craziness happening with the rest of the cast.

I also enjoy narratives about developing friendships, Twilight is the most innocent in that regard and pretty central to how that plays out for the show.

    Also muthafuckin magic.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Pinkie Pie is pretty consistently my favorite pony, but the rest are all constantly bucking each other out of second place.

Three days ago it was Twilight, today it's Rarity, tomorrow it'll probably be Dash or Fluttershy.

I dunno why I like Pinkie so much.  She just makes me smile, I guess.

    Also, Gummy.

You don't really have to go into much detail explaining Pinkie's appeal. It's almost kind of primal.

She gets bonus points for the musical numbers. I remember how much I hated those as a kid, now for this series they're highlights of the episodes they're in. It's made even better by characters reacting to her songs the way you might expect people to in real life.

Oh, I forgot I was going to troll you. Gummy is toothless and catatonic because of the horrible things Pinkie does to him. Cupcake level stuff.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Same.  I used to hate songs in stuff.

One more thing ponies has changed my mind about.
"I just realized that I left my MP3 player alone with Gummy.  And the last time I did that, he deleted all my music and replaced it with bizarre pornography."
    "Nah, that was totally me."
"YOU!  Well, the things I did to Gummy are only half of what I will do to you."

^^ That's another thing that makes Pinkie cooler in the fandom.  She doesn't need the audience to troll each other, she does it herself.

I still don't really like musical numbers on the whole, but this show does them in a way that makes me smile and I'm not sure why.  Might just be because my man-shields are already down or something.  So meh.
  • Could be that they actually bothered to make them sound decent. I don't think there are as many people who have ever had some bullshit song from a Fairly Oddparents Christmas special stuck in their heads as Winter Wrap Up.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Winter Wrap Up is honestly one of my least favorite songs in the show. Even if it is catchy as all fuck.

My favorites are probably Art of the Dress and Giggle at the Ghosties.

^ I want to get the joke D:
  • Whenever she talks, she likes to rhyme.

And yes, it really is all the time.

    Ah, alright then

That's where learning other languages may come in handy
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
While that might sound find and dandy,
It will not be easy as from a baby taking candy.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
This topic will not descend into a rhyming fit.

    I simply won't allow it.

If this topic makes you gag and retch,
Sit down, shut up, don't be such a little bitch.
  • Lol.

    Lol.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
If you insist on being so lazy,
you chances of survival look mighty hazy.

    I wonder if these rhymes
Will turn into a rap battle this time?
  • I've actually seen some brony rapping.

It's kind of bizarre and cheesy, blah blah crapping.
  • Seems to me that a pony fan,

Can maybe rhyme, but he can't scan.

And if you can't acquire that art,

It's probably better not to start.

  • Eat a tit, limey Brit.

The Equestria Inquirer used the Zecora + "orange" joke too, but she wound up having a seizure instead.  I'm surprised neither of them thought to try "doorhinge" -- hell, she's already made lazier pseudo-rhymes than that.

    Also, speaking of orange...

    Lonely Island + Ponies

This could only ever have been awesome.
  • The best part is that Pinkie really would do that.
  • Hey.

Never been in this thread before, but I thought I'd mention that at the daycare today the kids made me read them a MLP book.
  • 4th gen?
  • It had Pinkie Pie in it but I don't remember the other names. They weren't any of the most popular ones here though, but Fluttershy had an unstated cameo.
