    I'm a nervous paranoid wreck and MMOs always bring out the "THEY'RE WATCHING ME" feeling in me. 

    As in, all the other players are watching me. 

    They watch everything I do.

    They are always there, silently judging me, seeing if I am fit to live in THEIR world.

    Also, given how assholish most MMO communities are, and how competitive they are, I'm amazed most people don't feel scared when around other players who are even a slight bit better than them.

    No it isn't because these are games with thousands, sometimes, millions of players, are going about their own business, new players coming in every single day just as uninteresting as the last. Unless you are dancing like an idea, running around naked, spamming up the chat, etc, no one will be paying attention to you at all.

    Vivi's right. Expecting every other player to take notice of you, just another random new player, is ridiculous. When I started playing [name deleted], there were a ton of other newbies starting out with me in the exact same location. I suspect it's probably the same for most MMOs.

    I thought that was the case until I started playing one, Eden Eternal in particular, and noticed that really no one gave much of a rat's ass for whatever I happened to be doing, apart from a few guild invites.  This is excluding those times when I'm in a party, of course, but in those cases I spend more time coordinating my fellow party members than I do worrying about them observing me...maybe because they don't and keep on running off and doing their own thing.

    If anything I think I spent a good amount of time sitting on the ground in the town center of Andrew Village and doing absolutely nothing.

    Most of the time people don't give a rat's ass about you.

    Sometimes they do. Not often, though. In that case, there's a 50% chance they're an asshole, a 50% chance they're good people, and about a 75% chance every other word out of their mouth will be faggot.
