"Non-explicit sexualization of children isn't that bad! It's not actually child pornography!"

If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
This begs to differ.

...all five of those pictures are somewhere between ridiculously silly (especially the one with the older woman) and disturbing.

    Also, inb4 Bratz.

That said, I don't know what this article has to do with lolicon.

Edit: Thread title used to say "lolicon".  See below for more details.

    Inb4 loli derail.

I took one look at the page and went "NOPE."

Children should not wear makeup. Kids should not be wearing lingerie.

I didn't know how to write 'sexualizing little kids' without making it sound worse than it is.
  • Shut up, Don! It's all Japan's fault anyway! >:[

^^^However, the article says nothing relevant to the claim that lolicon isn't so bad because of not being actual little kids.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but the argument you're providing isn't relevant to the claim you're arguing against.

^The lolicon boom in Japan is largely in response to a law imposed by America after World War II, oddly enough.

However, the article says nothing relevant to the claim that lolicon isn't so bad because of not being actual little kids.

It is making an argument that, just because it doesn't outright sexualize (as in, like, nude images and stuff) little kids, doesn't mean it's acceptable.

Like I said, it's not really to do with lolicon, I just didn't know how else to phrase it. Gimme a better title and I'll edit it.

Oh. No wonder I was confused. Yeah, that's a fair point.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I'd say that's definitely sexualizing kids.  They don't have to be nude for that.

Since when did sexualizing someone necessarily require explicitness or nudity?

Why not just call it what it is? PAEDOPHILIA

Also, agreeing with the two comments above me.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
    Could be worse.

    It could be ponicon.
  • >The lolicon boom in Japan is largely in response to a law imposed by America after World War II, oddly enough.

    Which law, the pixellation one?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
(as in, like, nude images and stuff)

It's definitely sexualizing it, but I don't know the word for when it's explicit versus non-explicit.
  • They're somethin' else.
    GOD, I-- WHA-- NO!
  • How about explicit sexualization of children vs. non-explicit sexualization of children? Or covert SoC vs. overt SoC?

    . . . What in the--

    >it doesn't outright sexualize
    >adult lingierie for children

    Except it kinda does.

And yeah, you definitely used "lolicon" when you meant "sexualization of little kids that isn't explicitly pornographic". This is one of those things that hurts children with its mere existence.

    Ninja'd a whole lot.

"Why not just call it what it is? PAEDOPHILIA"

    Agreed.
  • Glaives are better.
How about "eroticize?" No such word, I know, but it conveys the implication of sexuality.

A ban on the depiction of pubic hair led to a sudden demand for...well, porn that didn't contain pubic hair.
  • Glaives are better.
    IT'S CALLED A RAZOR

    ARGH

DAMMIT JAPAN YOU WERE DOING SO WELL
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I specified what I meant in the very next section of words...

How about explicit sexualization of children vs. non-explicit sexualization of children? Or covert SoC vs. overt SoC?

Kinda... wordy, but it works, I guess. I'll go edit it then.
  • A ban on the depiction of pubic hair led to a sudden demand for...well, porn that didn't contain pubic hair.

Wait, how the hell does lacking in pubic hair = severely underage?

Dammit, Japan. I hate you more everyday.

No I don't actually hate Japan, shut up you damn weeaboos.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
@Cygan: No, it looked like you were saying children's lingerie doesn't count as sexualizing them, and I was merely saying that that's not true.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Well, little kids definitely don't have any pubic hair.

    ^^^ OMFG Y U H8 TAPPAN?
  • Yeah, apparently in Japan, shaving pubes = prostitute. Not that that excuses anything.
