Something I've never understood about operating systems (or maybe that's just Windows?) is why they allow processes to use up so much resourses so as to basically take over the system and become unable to be terminated. It feels like it goes against the entire idea of what an operating system is supposed to be.

If I get it right, it's one of those let's-make-a-wojak-compass-of-nonexistent-setting things. Some pages before, I posted one that looks like somebody broke into the brain of Neal Stephenson and rummaged around it in search for ideas he couldn't fit into The Diamond Age.
