  • That's definitely the most surreal I've seen it too, though.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

    >mfw when Americans call crikey cobbled scalers "alligators"

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.

^^ I will never get tired of seeing that.

  • They're somethin' else.

^ I've actually been looking at characters I could pull off at least somewhat

So far Giovanni is on my list, but I need to still lose a bit more fat and get rid of my acne at a minimum
  • I've got just enough experience with theater makeup to cover up acne if I have to.  It's a pain, but I'd rather go all the way for a cosplay than look half-assed.

First thing that comes to mind that I could pull off would be Ivan from Golden Sun.  Isaac or Matthew if I got some help with my hair.

I have the right body type for enough other options, but my next thought would be to go for lulz, break out the papier maché and be Captain Viridian.

  • Cardboard Box Gundam all the way, baby.

  • You know you made a cosplay amazing when it you (loosely) based it on a foreign IP, and it found its way back as a meme.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Being bespectacled really reduces my cosplay options, and plate armour is expensive. Otherwise I'd just do Oscar from Dark Souls.

  • if u do convins fashist akwaint hiz faec w pavment neway jus 2 b sur

I could pull off a decent Gendo.

  • I don't see why glasses would matter.  At worst, you wear glasses and just take them off when someone wants a photo of you or something.  Ideally you'd wear contacts or something but I know not everyone is able or willing to.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Glasses are such a major part of many character's visual style that not having them/having them might make or break it. And it's easier to not need glasses and get fakes. In any case, though, I have the long blond hair/beard combination going on, which few characters tend to have. Unless they're villains. But even then.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

    ^Contacts?

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Never used 'em, because I never felt the need. Worth a look, but then again, I'm not really fretting over cosplaying very much.

I can get ridiculous sideburns if I go too long without a haircut, so with some dye I could be Lucas Macguffin.

On a related note, Western IP's need more heroes who aren't generic military, black ops, and SPESS MEHREENS.  When I have to poke into obscure indie games just to find one who isn't, we have what's called an oversaturated market.

Any fantasy game, Rayman, Rachet and Clank, Assassin's Creed, etc.

  • Almost none of which are remotely human-shaped.

I mean yeah, lemme go ahead and cosplay Rayman by cutting off my goddamn arms.

  • But Assassin's Creed and every fantasy RPG ever (and plenty of other western stuff) do have human characters.  And besides, all you said was that you wanted non-space marines, not that you want actually good character designs or something cosplayable.

There's also a whole other shitload of them that aren't fantasy or Assassin's Creed.

Most adventure games, action sandboxes etc, and lots of them are mainstream. What you said only applies for FPS games, which is more a fault of the genre than the fact they are from the West. Rare Japanese FPS games have the same problem.

  • I guess I could pull off the generic space marine type better than most video game characters. Much better than long-haired bishies, to be sure.

  • "I've come to the conclusion that this is a VERY STUPID IDEA."

The only safe response to that:

  • No rainbow star

If that one guy is right about me going bald in the next 5-10 years... Then I'm not sure whether that adds more cosplay options or takes a ton away. I guess it would make wigs easier to do, allowing any hair style...

I wish I couldn't immediately tell who did that without having seen it before.  Not because I don't like his work, but because it's a shame that there aren't many other artists like Shintaro Kago. :/

  • Has friends besides tanks now

    contacts

Oh my God, I just realized: now that I have contacts, cosplaying is gonna be so much easier!

Now I have to think of a new cosplay, because I feel like I've sort of half-assed my other ones.

Also, I want to get fit. I think I'll start with that next week.

    So very true.

I shouldn't be laughing, but I just love that you can do this in fighting games.
